In this episode we strip out the rest of the interior, do some much needed cleaning and apply several heat and sound protection products. I use several products in the process and I'll cover what they do and how to apply them.
For the entire run of early Miata's (1990 - 2005) not much protection was supplied from the factory. I'm using several products that will improve driving enjoyment AND make your audio equipment work better without adding much weight. You may even reduce some weight because we're going to be replacing the crappy jute under-layment with much better materials!
Heat insulation: amzn.to/3ezfQwH
Heavy duty radiant barrier: amzn.to/31hEMoL
(The smallest amount you can get this is 500 sqft because it's a roofing/attic material but the price is $75 or less. I used it on my house too!)
Kilmat Sound Deadener: amzn.to/3i2EJDe

Where did you get that floor mat? It looks pre made, but you had to cut it. I want to redue my carpet just curious

Yes it's noticeable. Not Maybach quiet or anything but I think about 5 to 10 decibels less with the roof up.

Can you show us a before and after audio clip please so that I can gauge how much difference it makes (: Great video tho.

It wasn't noticeable on a sound clip but it is in real life. I tried a sound meter and got about a 10 db noise drop with the top up and 5 with it down.

The heat stuff was 40 square feet. I still have some left over...I may use it on the trunk.

What kind of heat insulation was it/where did you get it? I have butyl foil for the majority of the floor but would like to wrap the tunnel with heat shield

How many square feet did you get of the Kilmat?

I got the 36 sqft pack but I still have at least half left, just need to do the doors still. But it's been working great on the cabin and trunk. I did 50-75% coverage not 100% and I think it's been great.

Yeah occasionally I get a similar comment from people and I'm like really, you want to see me turn a bolt? I get it (sort of) but it's not natural for me. For me I'd rather have people give me the info I need. I have been trying to mix it up a bit, the one I just posted (carpet install) has fire 🔥, lol.
