Many thanks for providing us such valuable information... The kind of information we never have time to get in dept with our respective respiratory therapist. (no matter how good they are). Keep up the good work. Very grateful. 💯

I actually like all the moisture. Can it be bad for you? I've been trying to find the answer. I have to change my p10 mask in the middle of the night since it gets too wet, but I like it. Also, (I just asked this on your other video) when you turn up the humidifier setting, how does it make more humidity? Does it increase the temp of the heating element under the reservoir? Like when you turn up the heat on your stove?
@CPAPmyway9 ай бұрын
I do not think that it can cause too big of an issue as long as you are comfortable and the equipment is being cleaned very regularly. Moisture can lead to bacteria, mold and mildew if not maintained. The moisture is added by heating the water more causing more to evaporate.

Thank you for this video. I recently started using a Resmed 11 with heated tube. More often than not, I’m getting a message that says, “Attention. Heating system error. Therapy may run without heating.” I wake up with the water in the tank still full and my sinuses feel dried out. Other than having a bad machine, can you think of a reason why I’m having this issue? It seems to be a common problem with Resmed 11. My provider hasn’t been much help, so far. Thanks for your help.

In almost every case that I have seen with this particular error, the AirSense 11 has to go back to ResMed for repair.

Hi Great explanation and thank you. I have an Resmed air sense 10 and are under the care of the NHS UK which services it, I was issued a humidifier water tank yesterday at the hospital my set up is a standard Plastiflex classic 15 air tube (not Heated) Im using Nasal pillows with a humidity setting of 4 (default). My question is will the humidifier work with this set up, the humidifier green smiley face showed this morning after using last night on checking the water tank was still full on felling the water tank the water was at room temperature this was also evident of the warming plate at the bottom of the machine and water tank. do i need to apply any setting? Kind regards John

What if you want LESS humidity? I have HP (a type of interstitial lung disease) and I think I am supposed to stay away from high humidity situations, but I may need a CPAP soon.

Good video. How can you tell if your heated tube is actually heating the air in the tube? Dreamstation II...
@CPAPmyway11 ай бұрын
Typically as long as you do not see condensation in the tube it is working. I believe that model will also alert you if the tubing has a fault.

so basically. The standard tubing will work with the humidity setting BUT the heating tubing works better with the humidity setting because of the metal coils in it right ?

Yes, the heated tubing will provide the best humidification.

I don't like to run the furnace at night unless it's arctic cold so when my frozen nose woke me up I decided I needed a heated tube. I've kept the temp fairly low but now my humidifier runs dry in the middle of the night. 😢
@CPAPmyway8 ай бұрын
Yeh that is tough there is not enough water for the night the only option is to reduce the humidity a bit or continue to run out.
@steiny33536 ай бұрын
@@CPAPmyway Yeah, I've been running out of water too, by the time i wake up. before, I was getting a lot of rain out (gurgling) but often had a half full water tank in the morning. Since I have fiddled around with the setting though, I wake up with a dry mouth and no water. I'll just keep fiddling with it. Thanks for the advice.

Considering that the equipment is okay, I would check the humidity of the room. The machine adds water vapor to the air it is pulling from the room. If the air is too humid, the water in the reservoir will not decrease. If it is too low, not all the water in the reservoir will compensate for the lack of humidity in the room. Depending on the situation, you may want to consider using a humidifier overnight, keeping the relative humidity in the bedroom at 60% or above.

@@CPAPmyway Good question.. I have a Resmed Airsense 11 and considering the heated tube due to the dry throat cough during this time of year (Winter) as our room is kept cool to sleep. Adjusting the humidity didn't do very much other than cause rainout into my nose (nose pillow type of mask) and a dry throat. :-)
@CPAPmyway6 ай бұрын
You can wash it the same as the regular tubing. So the sleep coach is incorrect. Here is the snip direct from ResMed. ClimateLineAir™ heated tube, SlimLine™ and standard tubing Weekly cleaning tips: 1 Unplug your CPAP machine from the power source. 2 Disconnect the air tubing/hose from your mask and CPAP machine. 3 In a sink or tub, rinse the inside and outside of the air tubing with mild dishwashing liquid and warm, drinking-quality water. Avoid using stronger cleaning products, including dish detergents, as they may damage the air tubing or leave harmful residue. 4 Rinse again thoroughly with warm, drinking-quality water. 5 Place the air tubing on a flat surface, on top of a towel, to dry. Avoid placing in direct sunlight.@@blueflicker

I have a Luna 3B I use a heated tube and have been given a number of tubes. It has the extra little plug at the end. I feel no humidity. I get rain out and condensation. Any thoughts? I didn’t have this happen on my dream station. With my dream station, I could feel the warm air and I didn’t get the dry mouth. This is terrible and it doesn’t seem to work. My humidity is set up to five.

Have you increased the tube setting as well? There are two separate settings for those. The link below will give a good reference. cpapmyway.com/blog/luna-g3-cpap-setup-guide

Do you recommend a heated humidifier for people with a tracheostomy?
@CPAPmyway10 күн бұрын
That unfortunately is a Dr question. I know that most of the customers I have dealt with use heated humidifiers, and they are the high end versions of the humidifiers.

I used a heat tube, I keep turn the heat down until it was off, so I do not need the heated tube. the Machine blues air out of the tube for several minutes, after it is turned off, disconnect the mask, put the tube on the floor, gravity helps, and the tube drives out. I done this for 7 years, I replace my standard tube every 6 to 12 months, I can detect orders well and it clean, If I needed to clean the tube, I would use H2O2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) about a cup and move it back and forth, run bottled water through the tube and the rinse the tube with a cup of distilled water.

I don't understand the rationale of this video. A heated tube used to increase humidity? Since when does heat increase humidity? Heat is temperature. Not water vapor in the hair. Temperature and air humidity are two different Physics variables. So this video didn't mention the main reason why a heated tube is used. To warm up the air. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
@CPAPmyway5 ай бұрын
The warmer the air, the more humidity it will hold. Without a heated tube the air will cool rapidly as it passes through the tubing and the humidity in the air condenses into water. This causes literal rain in the tubing which is very irritating to CPAP users. Cold air does not hold much humidity.
