this is actually liquid aluminum and when it is heated it dissolves completely and then when it gets to the leak it will actually adhere to it, and after some time it will just keep accumulating and seal a small leak. well worth the money. otherwise you would need to replace the radiator or the heater core and some of these parts are quite costly and difficult to replace.

I never believed in that fix it can stuff until I had an old 350 chevy engine with a bad head gasket with coolant getting into oil. I was just gonna junk the old van till a buddy told me about that head gasket repair in a can, I laughed but decided i will try it before selling the van to the junk yard for 100 bucks, That stuff worked and I drove that old van for three more years

Did your vehicle overheat over the summer? This stuff has always scared me. It could easily clog up the rest of your system. And if you're trying to sell your car, a lot of people look to see if the coolant looks metallic. If it does usually it will drop the resale value of your car because someone used stop leak

i will giv my shot on this one!! i have a heater core leak for a year!! so my opinion in radiator sealant is it works... car goe for lot miles BUT::: the antifreeze will with time remove the sealant away and smoke and vapors start goes into car.... i need to remove antifrize every 60 days and put new mix with more water than coolant and more extra sealant because the liquid will "clean" off the sealant with time!! so need to put over and over again

I just used this today after watching just about every review on it lol. It seems as though there is a risk of it clogging something if you don't flush the system first, but even then, it's maybe 5% of people that have an issue, so I decided to risk it. I only had some small seepage, and I used a bit less than half a bottle and drove for 40 minutes instead of the 10-20 that it recommends. The leaking appears to have stopped, still getting plenty of heat so I assume nothing is gummed up. It really does seem to work!

Had to take a couple of attempts at it, but it stopped a major headgasket leak in 4-cyl turbo. When I say "stopped" they have a habit of coming back unfortunately when the engine is under heavy load again... It's very expensive however here. Probably best just to replace a heater core (from a wrecker etc), it's a PITA to do in a lot of cars, but is a proper fix for the issue.

Your first problem right there is the DEX coolant. Ten years after General Motors began using Dex-Cool as an antifreeze in most of its cars and light trucks, GM car and truck owners continue to complain that the coolant corrodes and clogs radiators and radiator caps, erodes water pumps, rots radiator hoses, causes chronic overheating and engine damage while leading to leaky engine gaskets. The stuff is junk . Get it out of there and replace it with the green. Second, I can guarantee you that when you drive it, at high rpm's the mass amount of pressure built up from the water pump and the heat will blow that heater core wide open. Been there my friend. Just trying to help a brother out. :)

The things with these stop leaks is this, including transmissions, engines, radiators etc,if you are like 90% of the population that has zero attachments to their vehicles and they will be disposed of in a few years for something better/newer than by all means use all this stuff, but if you are going to keep your car cause you like it or are attached to it then dont use this stuff, get the problem fixed properly. I have taken engines apart where they used stop leak, oh my god,it wasn't a pretty sight, that stuff over time clogs coolant ports and just creates a mess inside the engine plus its a bandaid but again, you wont have the car that long, use the products as needed.

From an online GM forum. "Leaking coolant from a cracked intake manifold gasket is an extremely common problem on most GM vehicles made from the late 90s to the mid-2000s. Most experts agree that the problem stems from GM's "DexCool" coolant, which reacts with the intake manifold gasket, causing it to leak coolant."

@@syxxes , there's a chance you have a failing head gasket that has a pinhole leak into the cooling lines. When you open the radiator cap, are you seeing a steady stream of bubbles coming up? I used a similar product (bar's leaks liquid aluminum). It sealed the leak in the core (no heat in the winter sucks!). The fix has been holding up for about a month now, although the heater seems to be weaker than usual lately. Gonna backflush the core because it's probably clogged. Also, the thermostat is hesitant to open up while the vehicle is warming up at idle, although blipping the throttle gets that taken care of. It's unfortunate that such a cheap part is so expensive to replace due to the amount of labor involved in getting at it.

It can actually develop an electrical current and cause electrolysis, similar to how the salt and water makes your car rust. And yes, tons of people use dexcool and have no problem, but the fact that you need to change it more often alone makes it an inferior product and I can't imagine why anyone would choose to use it still.

The problem IS NOT THE DEX COOL PER SAY, THE PROBLEM IS PEOPLE DO NOT CHECK THEIR FLUIDS. DEX COOL is ok as LONG AS YOU KEEP IT FILLED UP, PERIOD. IF YOU DON'T CHECK YOUR FLUIDS & LOSE SOME ANTIFREEZE ( GET AIR INTO THE SYTEM BY BEING LOW ON DEX COOL ) THAT IS WHEN IS STARTS TO HARDEN & GIVE YOU PROBLEMS. PERSONALLY I AGREE THAT I WOULD CHANGE IT OUT THOUGH FOR THE REGULAR ANTI FREEZE, IF IT GETS LOW JUST FILL IT UP.

Daniel Jackson bro a heater core shouldn’t take no longer than thirty minutes- hour to replace . All you really do is drain the fluid from the lever on the bottom of radiator and then start taking lines/hoses apart.

Now imagine what the inside of your engine and main radiator looks like. I dunno if its worth it. Ive been devating on unplugging the heater hoses and using this stuff on a pond pump and this and run it through for a few hours. And see if it fixes the issue.. then hook the hoses back up to the engine this way i keep this stuff outa my engine and just fix the heater core
