are you going to chop the leafs of your med palm when it’s fully established

I like to leave as many leaves as possible whilst they are still green, as I believe they power the growth of the palm. It was holding leaves nearly down to the soil level before I moved it but due to cutting the roots when I moved it I removed several to help it re-establish.
