Loved this film! I know a lot hate it. And yea the constant calling out of names in the dialogue was overkill but I can look past it. I really like how EVERY effect was done without use of opticals (besides the credits and lightning bold striking the tower) The mirror concept was really cool. It has like this eerie late night atmosphere to it. I really enjoyed Scream Factory's bluray release of this with the director's commentary. He was VERY proud of the effects work in the film and said he would have liked it to have been more scarier and more "edgy".

What I'd like to see about all this fact (Poltergeist III & especially Heather O'Rourke's last performance) is if somebody just found (& is able to release) Heather's last interview, which was intended to be included like extra stuff in the Laserdisc edition.

Lmao Tom Skerritt is hilarious! "Dangling like a pepperoni over the city of Chicago." Tom and Nancy Allen were pretty brave to go over the side of the Hancock Center in the window washing lift.

Yes the original ending was shot, and Gary didnt like it. He was planning on remaking it, but Heather's death led to this one, where her face does not show

Here are the following things that happening Poltergeist 3: a swimming pool freezes literally in seconds, Carol-Ann, her cousin and her boyfriend are pulled down into a small puddle in the parking lot, Speaking of parking lots they freeze over and the vehicles start up by themselves and began running amok crashing and burning. The ghost jack up the elevators as well as do a shitload of mirror effects.... all this stuff... and most of the people in the building are oblivious to it. Security never comes to investigate, maintenance repairs never come to fix anything. Firefighters never come to put out the fires or anything... Only our main characters are aware of what's going on.

No, I read a lot about the ending. It was not a re-shot, 'cause Heather O'Rourke, unfortunately, died before. When she died, Gary Sherman, who directed Poltergeist 3, didn't want to finish the movie. He didn't want to because of little star dead, I read that her funeral's day was his worst day of his life, but...however, Metro Goldwyn Mayer said to him "You are going to finish the movie or someone else will". They used a "double" at the end.

I agree. It's kinda hard to think that the 2nd and 3rd were from the same trilogy since the 2nd is more of a spirtual type thing and the 3rd is like the spirits are using all of their energy to take over a skyscraper thus with no build up. The 2nd to me was like an epilogue to the first.

The studio didn't like the ending, and demanded a reboot, even though Heather had passed away. The cast did it, begrudgingly, but they were all sad and just weren't into it. And Kip Wense (Scott) wasn't even told about the reshoot. So, Scott never came back.

Love how they used excerpts from Jerry Goldsmith' scores to "Poltergeist" and "Poltergeist II: The Other Side". I guess Joe Renzetti's score was not up to snuff.

I agree but the same thing can be said about II. I liked parts of 2 but it added up to nothing and it was full of false scares: The ton of ghosts walking in the yard...where did they go? The braces scene...was he really in danger? Bodies coming out of a closet when they were just brooms...

Poltergeist is the Best of the Trilogy but Poltergeist III is my second favorite cause of the Special Effects and that it takes place in a skyscraper. Film wasn't all that great and the editing sucked. But it looked like a Blast making this Film. Just wish the Film was actually really good.

Yeah it's just the stupid director decided he wanted a reshoot of the ending and in doing so, it messed everything up when she died, they already shot the original ending, but he decided not to include it, in respect to Heather dying, he took it out and reshot the ending with a body double of Heather, just really stupid!

The scary Jerry Goldsmith music is by far the best part of this whole rotten documentary. This movie sucked and I say that with a heavy heart as one of the poltergeist franchise's Biggest fans. I understand it was Due to budget reasons but the music scores that they chose literally sounded like something from A toy casio keyboard From the 1980s. With everything that you've could have done in a big modern skyscraper I can't believe this was the finished product? Gremlins 2 Did a much better job of this concept. If they couldn't go for scary than they should have gone for comedy Like by making fun of themselves as opposed to the piece of garbage we got which Forces the audience to make fun of it.

When I watched poltergeist III I was hugely disappointed, first off mum n dad aren't in it, there's vague continuity in the saga, the setting is crap (a sodding highrise building)... it held little suspense for me except for Zelda Rubenstien being killed, but by then You realise the film was desperately lacking all the brilliant suspence of the first movie. Oh yes and Heather O' Rouke running around in 3yr old jumper suite was laughable. For me it was a real shame because there was so many ways to have made this last movie really fantastic in toe with the first.

It amazes me that they got a lot of great actors on board for this movie, and most of their performances are crap. Nancy Allen is laughably bad, Tom Skerritt is laughably bad and the Dr. is hilarious, but they are all still likable for some reason, especially Allen & Skerritt. It's sad that you can tell Heather was very sick on this set, and I wish I could've met her.

King Carriere hmmm I've never heard her scenes were bad. I always heard that Heather was the BEST in the movie. People that worked on poltergeist 3 actually said that. It was supposed to be released December 1987 but they decided to reshoot the ending in February 1988. But by then Heather had died.

King Carriere I doubt Heather scenes in the movie were laughable. She did her best and I think she nailed it and did a wonderful job! Heck the movie needed more Heather in it. The only part that bothered me was her uncle in the movie he keep kissing and hugging everyone in the film. To much touchy feely for me.
