Part 3 includes a look at the history of airliner development, the Trident Preservation Society's Trident, and covers the start of the flypast. It also looks at how the job of cabin crew has changed over the years. Transferred from VHS. Part 3 of 5.

That's me at 7:17! The BBC came up to Coventry on a few weeks before the flypast to film inside Rapide G-AIDL. The noise when the Lanky overtook at 8:14 had to be heard (and felt) to be believed. I thought something was dropping off the Rapide, it was shaking like a wet dog. Turns out the BBMF were running a bit late and the old girl was being given the gun! It all worked out well, and having cleared out from Heathrow I flew back to Coventry at 500 feet (at the most). Happy days, it all seems such a long time ago.

I didn't know any Comets were flying in the 90's save the Nimrod, which is almost a comet ;-) ! VC-10, always elegant, the Trident is interesting to look at. The DC-8 (and 707s) were looking better with the older slim engine pods but efficiency beats style in the business world. The Rapide is quite pretty (and I finally got to see one a few years back at EAA). Then the Concorde. She just trumps them all! Would have loved to be here for this!
