Thanks Terry. The main focus was the running of the ASHP, the Solar was for my data collection purposes more than anything 👍

Winter solstice is 21st of December. So six weeks either side of that are worst for solar. Roughly 7 of November until 7 if February. In your example day on day there was more daylight ie more opertunity for solar.

The purpose of the video was to highlight the cost of the ASHP, not the solar generation. I used the Solar generated during the same months recorded for the ASHP as JAN, FEB & MAR are typically the worst months for ASHP as they are generally the months where ASHP are at there least efficient, so it gave me the data I wanted to know whether the solar generated had covered the cost of heating the pond during the coldest periods.

Interesting v video though as it shows how’s a genuine timescale of how long it would take an average household to get money back from a solar setup 👍.

Hi Steve. They aren't for everybody but a must if you wish to gain consistently good growth as it basically extends the UK summer period. Or even just to hold temps stable, don't necessarily have to use them to heat high👍

Very good video, mate! It was very interesting for me to hear what your electricity cost are and your solar generation is worth. It is quite similar to our system and cost here in Australia. What surprised me. I thought our cost here were higher to yours in England.

Wouldn't it be more cost-effective to operate in mid-summer in the UK? You know, feed them well during that period and spend the winter unheated and unfed, like many of us?

Hi Simon, interesting video buddy. I’d say £174 for 3 months is reasonable, if you consider how much you’re cheapest koi cost in you’re pond if you were to replace it. Also consider how much it costs to treat for trick/costia or flukes or even worse loss of the whole collection of prized koi as a result of really bitter winters, as some people have experienced. Something to think about.

Very good way of looking at it👍 I think is the initial cost that tends to put people off. Now that electricity prices have dropped a little it makes it even more viable👍

Nice may try and sell the £12k-£15k setup cost to the mrs so I can heat my pond and save £174 over 3 months 😂😂

You can get it much cheaper than that. Average between £5-8k depending on the gear you have and the size of the roof. Most systems will pay back in somewhere between 5-7 years👍
