Very helpful.. been struggling to build any kind of coaster that is functioning and guess I really didn't understand how in depth this game went with the coaster building. You've given me hope to try again though. also didn't realize smoothing the pieces out was as simple as clicking a button that reads smooth, so another helpful tidbit from this video. Extremely helpful and appreciate your time making this video

Lateral Gs, is worst Gs. Put a lot of strain on your neck. Negative Vertical "airtime" is what most want, so bunny hops (camel humps) are perfect. Thanks again for a good tutorial. Made it more clear what does what :)

I was ready to build my first coaster. Didn't pull out a loan, built it as I went. I was excited about high lifts, deep ascend, quick turns, loops and inverts. My first two or three attempts came back as "too scary, no one will ride it."
@TheD1ddler

It should be noted that even with good overall numbers on E/F/N on a coaster, large spikes of G forces into intolerable levels will cause people to not want to ride it.

Fair point! I haven't made anything with massive spikes yet (apart from the death traps in this video) But it's something to bear in mind! I'll pin this comment so others can see it :)

Have not played Planet Coaster yet, but it might work like the originals in that each individual has a tolerance for fear and nausea and a desire for excitement that the game considers when deciding whether they will choose a ride.

I think that in the second example about vertical G, that good numbers are good because before check, you used the smooth tool, than, even moving up manually, the point of inclination became more smooth, probably before this, when you manually make that little part starting the climb, the number probably were worst! But about your content, simply amazing bro, I'm learning a lot!

Great work as always - this along with your other video has helped turn my roller coasters from vomit comets into actually enjoyable experiences. One question though - is there a general rule on how much banking you should have for turns? Sometimes I feel like I bank too much which actually increases the fear (and nausea) rating, so I was curious.
@Geekism
@Geekism 7 жыл бұрын
+Matt (Zeffy94) I can't give you an actual number of degrees I'm afraid, as far as I'm aware it's just a gut feeling type thing. Maybe someone with more knowledge can shed some light. Over banking can be an effective technique though, within reason. Sorry I can't be more help, thanks for watching though :)

Much like fear; you want some g-force, but not too much. The magic number for g-force is somewhere between 4 and 5. The ideal speed for a coaster is usually somewhere between 30-50mph. These are just rough guidelines that can be broken, but if you're looking for high excitement you really want to monitor your g-force. Airtime humps are also a winner in this game.
@Geekism

I'd agree with this, although I'd personally go a little lower, with Gs around 3 mostly peaking to 4 - 4 1/2... But it's personal preference... and yeah, they love them bunny hops!

So doesn’t a lot of lateral g force happen on wild mouse coasters that make you feel like you are going to fly off the edge?
@DamienGranz
@DamienGranz 5 жыл бұрын
Wow that quick up and down dip coaster, that's a nightmare. (*CW:* Morbid talk below!) I'm pretty sure the G force going down on that coaster, regardless of what damage it might do to your neck could give you brain damage and make you black out; you can handle maybe 2Gs in that direction and it's reading 10, hah. At that point all of the blood is going to swell into your brain and cause your brain to asphyxiate, and could cause brain hemorrhaging and contusions. Vessels in the eyes could even rupture at that point. It's a Bad Scene™. Even that upwards G force, while more tolerable, at that level is almost certainly going to cause people to pass out. Some people pass out even in 'safe' g forces and at that level is basically 'astronaut probably going to go blind temporarily' levels of g forces. The forward and lateral Gs won't even matter at that point, hah.. like at that point it's just rag-dolling your unconscious or possibly dead body around.

What I have seen is as long as g’s don’t exceed 5 it is generally good. You can see when g’s start to become too much as if you will have a bad nausea part. Nausea will also rise with rolls and such. So long as it is below three it tends to be negligible. Positives g’s are good, so are rolls, which create lateral. Sometimes upping the g forces will increase excitement. I was building a ride and I was trying to make a loop bigger to decrease a spot that was at 4.8g’s. When I reduced the tightness of the loop to about a 4.3 at max the excitement shot down two points. If your g forces don’t cause nausea, it means it’s a smooth g force and is enjoyable! Don’t be afraid of g’a otherwise you’ll make a bunch of boring rides!

ouch my physicist ears bled when you said "the power of gravity" but that's ok :D When people talk about "G-force" it's simply the force produced by a mass subjected to an acceleration (it's simply Newton's third law, force equals mass times acceleration). That acceleration can be the Earth gravity, so 1 G, which is what you get in a free fall, skydiving. You don't get more than 1 G skydiving. You can get more than 1 G if you introduce an artificial acceleration. In a rollercoaster, it can be being launched OR from a curve. Because whenever there is a curve, you force the coaster to go out of its natural (inertia) trajectory. If you force it out from going straight, you get the lateral G from the first coaster. If you force it out from going horizontally, either by having an up section or a down section, you get the up/down G from the second coaster. So, in that case the mass is the coaster, and the acceleration is the angular acceleration from the curve or up/down section. And of course the launch section gets you that forward G. And in that case the acceleration is simply the coaster's motorized/hydrolic acceleration.

for that lateral gs track , is is possible to give it more than 1 circuit? Like 3 or 4 times, like a powered mine train or bayern kurve style ride?

To make G force a bit clearer, you are experiencing 1 G of force as you are right now, just staying still and chilling. If you are experiencing 2 Gs of force, lets say downward, you will feel twice as heavy as you normally are. If you are experiencing 2 Gs of force in any other direction other than down, you will feel like you are being pulled in that direction at the force of your own body weight. 3 Gs of force would be 3 times your body weight pulling on you, or 3 times the force of gravity, and so on so forth. This puts strain on the riders, especially their neck and head, that's why you want to avoid lateral Gs as best you can.

Please help me. I had a big problem with lateral G-force, so what I did was making the bend larger and banking it. The lateral G-force was fixed, but I created a new problem: the vertical G-force was problematic. And I don't understand because in that bend, the train doesn't go up or down, so how can the vertical G-force be affected? The bend occurs after a drop, but I still don't see the problem, because my train doesn't go up or down in that bend.
