Nearly every modern "Christian" would have been burned as a heretic just 500 years ago. So was God's plan to actually lay out something that got misinterpreted for hundreds of centuries, or is religion just a reflection of the values of the present culture? Either way, I can make a better case for Santa than any argument for god I've heard during thousands of hours of watching debates. Their case would be laughed out of any halfway decent high school science classroom if the quality of their evidence was being used to support any other claim. But life and death are scary, so...that somehow okays lowering the bar for standards of evidence in this arena of discussion. Problem is, people then apply that standard to other areas of their life. And we wonder how we have flat earthers and people thinking 5g causes covid. It's a strait line back to religous styled arguments.

I'm from texas and the amount of people that actually still support trump and avoid the vaccine is painful to watch. I'm glad that I at least live in a populated and more diverse city, because the further someone is from the major cities the more likely they are to lose brain cells. I wish you luck with the patch of people you deal with, because as a person living in the south I can tell you that diversity in opinions and more educated people are our only hope. *Also I love your profile pic* 💜
