Heavenly Delusion anime and manga are both elite. Tengoku Daimakyou anime also changed or altered tons of sources material. Here are some of the major details you may have missed if you didn't read the manga. Lots of spoilers and fan theories. I skipped things that were too obvious.

Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Daimakyou) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masakazu Ishiguro. It has been serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Monthly Afternoon since January 2018. An anime television series adaptation produced by Production I.G aired from April to June 2023.
The story is divided in two storylines with one involving the characters Maru and Kiruko as they travel across a post-apocalyptic world, while another story focuses on a group of children who live in a school. The series was inspired by a manga Ishiguro read in university with the intention of making it different from his previous work, And Yet the Town Moves, and portray a proper dynamic between the two leads as well as the evil they face.
The manga has been received positively, with praise given to its sense of mystery and character relationships. The anime adaptation has received a similar response for its focus on relationships and gender issues.
Kiruko is a girl who runs a handyman shop in Nakano, Tokyo. She accepts a bodyguard request to take Maru to "Heaven." She is a skilled survivor and an expert with a gun. She used to live in an orphanage in Asakusa.
Prior to the events of the series, Haruki’s brain was implanted into his sister’s body, Kiriko. She has been searching for the doctor who performed the operation, as well as the man who served as her mentor before the accident, Robin.
Maru is a boy who is aiming for "Heaven" and to find the other boy who looks like him. He has no memory of his origin and as such has no surname. According to Kiruko, he is "a beautiful boy who is hard to find". He has outstanding physical abilities and a special power to kill man-eaters, which he calls “Hiruko”. He was born only a few months before The Calamity and is 15 at the start of the series.
