The laser being "murder beam" is a English translation thing. In the Japanese version it's the same for the manga and the anime, though it could be a pun including both meanings, just not said so in the story itself.

Bruh I find the comments about Robin's rape being so randomly out of character so stupid. Anime-only here, we ONLY saw him be a male role model to Haruki, NOT Kiriko. We don't know anything about their relationship except that they indeed spent more time together due to car racing since Robin was big boss man. MY theory: Robin was raping Kiriko back then too. Why? Because when Haruki gets his first memory that is really Kiriko's memory (seeing himself fast asleep while hearing Robin saying "Since Haruki's a deep sleeper..") was RIGHT AFTER 2 days of him raping him. You know what people say about trauma? The body remembers. And what else would Robin be doing with Kiriko in the sleeping quarters only because Haruki's a deep sleeper? And why else did Robin look absolutely mortified when he thought he saw Kiriko for the first time in 5 years? I think it's because the last time he raped her she beat his ass and threatened his life, orr he's scared that the 5 years got her to realize how wrong it was and made him think she'd seek revenge.

ah now i get it. its the "kill beam" (kiru bimu), as pronounced in japanese. its a pun. just like all their names. maru means circle, kiruko is the combination of both names (haruki, kiriko)

The incest trope is my only gripe with this series. Not only because it's a deeply uncomfortable trope, but I also feel like it actually detracts from what could have been an interesting psychological subplot with Haruki coming into puberty and having to grapple with s*xual feelings that he would need/need to decide to satisfy in a body that he is not comfortable doing that in.

There's no way all of you actually knew that Mimihime and crew was a story from the past This anime has a really crazy dynamic, the foreshadowing is crazy too up there with One Piece and AOT It's done so perfectly it's crazy. You might think there are loop holes but the storytelling is unbelievably immersive I wish I never watched this breakdown 'cause I know I wouldn't have seen any of this It would've left me so impressed for the longest time

i remember when watching the final episode and realizing where the doctor got the scar i flipped out- it was honestly one of the better twists ive encountered where i got to excited figuring it out. and then the newest chapters come out, and the story just keeps getting more interesting- my only grief is that i am hoping they are waiting to kill robin off for a certain character understanding moment- cause that mfer needs to die asap

was really damn surprised w the anime. Started watching it just cuz of the cool animation style; then was absolutely blown away... EASILY one of the best "mistery-box" type storytelling that pretty much NEVER pulls up BS out of nowhere (unlike lots of other animes, sadly). Every single goddamn scene is properly and subtly foreshadowed with dialogue and moments that actually respect the viewer's intelligence by not spelling everything out. Best new anime of 2023, that's for sure. Plus it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel... Seen pretty much everything (as in concept, setting and even narrative devices) in other media, altho it simply does everything better and more efficiently than the vast majority
