It was illegal for black people to have drums for a few hundred years. During that time we get the stomp,clap tambourine,banjo music( folk and early gospel) . Even today when the choir cuts the drums and hits the stomp and clap it does something to our souls

Albert Terrell (not Taylor) is my grandfather. Growing up I had the privilege of being the room when they would have rehearsal.

Oh how I miss this hymnal call & response gospel! I remember hearing much the same in the mid-late 70's as a little boy on the southside of Chicago and my summers in Tchula Mississippi and Marianna Arkansas....you could just FEEL the emotion and praise.

That bass is so good! I have never heard a singer be that musically interesting with such a narrow vocal range in the melody. This guy is proof that phrasing, tone, and artistry win out over empty technicality.
