Right now we have 12,000 soldiers at the border, wall in construction and we just bought some armored cars from Spain and helicopters from the US. The military bases at the border can easily hold over 30,000 if needed.

There's just no one standing up to them in a meaningful way, no military or police force in the country is willing and/or able to deal with it. The U.N. should send in a multinational peacekeeping mission to protect the population and particularly women from gang violence.

@@heretictom sadly HAITI disbanded its military in 1995 & the police force is extremely corrupt, underfunded & undertrained it’s ridiculous to expect them to handle this situation. A multinational peacekeeping force similar to those in BOSNIA & KOSOVO with a 10 year mandate until a professional and efficient POLICE force is built but that’s only half of the battle the rest is dealing with the low quality of life which is driving people into gangs.

Time to let the Haitians sort this out. There are a lot more Haitian citizens than gang members. Time for the citizens - en masse - to confront and defeat the gangs, no matter the cost. Enough is enough, fix your country, Haitians!

Unless you have lived there you have no idea how hard it is for a mother to feed her children no armchair quarterbacks can give the right answers for Haiti Haiti needs a benevolent dictator at least when Papa doc was ruling it was only one thief it was him some countries are not ready for democracy so unless you've lived there don't be too quick to judge

To be honest, I would just leave the Haitian people to get on with it. Violence is endemic in Haitian society, often leading to societal collapse. Foreign troops as before will only bring temporary order. Once they are gone, violence will re-surface. The Haitian people need to know that turning upon each other is pointless. As horrific as it is, they need to learn the lesson the hard way - a bit like Rwanda, which went from 800,000 murders in 6 weeks to one of the most peaceful, economically booming nations on earth.

Its good to let the world know whats going on in Haiti but it will also be better to get help taking action because if life was better in Haiti lots of our Haitian brothers and sisters wouldn't waste their times go to Dom Rep to be humiliated and killed by the immigration polices.
