I'm so happy I happened to watch one of your videos 6 months ago. Since then I have made my own Heavy Clubs and Mace's, as well as bought some fixed weight ones. But when I watched your video about the Adex Adjustable HC and Mace that was the kicker. At 58 with one heart attack, two join replacements and really bad osteoarthritis. I have worked out most of my life and now with HC and Mace I feel amazing. Thank you Mark!

I don’t know if you’ll get this and respond but I’m looking to move to heavy club I actually purchased one on Amazon a 30lb logest but it never was delivered. My question is what weight do you recommend I start with as I’ve used a 30lb and can handle it well. I’m 6’7” 215-220 firefighter 52age. I am able to do 32lb mace 10-2 10 per side and rest. Watching what you’ve expressed at the 50lb to 80lb segment I’ll look at purchasing a 50lb and move from there.

Everyone is sold out of 35lbs clubs so im thinking to pull the trigger on a pair the glgp 18kg and maybe one of the 36kg for two handed, curious if the knob on your collaborative model is smaller than the old ones in addition to what appears to be a slightly longer length?

| have the impression that a lot heavy club excercises include rotation the spine with weight. | understood from podcasts with dan John and Stuart McGill that fast rotation with weight is to be avoided. Because it will cause damage to the disks in your spine. Because im a layman in these topics im struggling to make sense of it. | would love to keep training with heavy clubs, but dont know how i should train to avoid damaging my disks. Or If i even understood this correctly from these podcasts. Do you have any suggestions in this?
@cioran1754
@cioran1754 Ай бұрын
Your back is designed to be really strong. The spine has a superstructure of supporting elements allowing it to twist / rotate. Other joints and muscles aid the back in allowing it to rotate, because it's supposed to. Are you planning on never rotating or twisting your spine in everyday life for good, no taking stuff out of the car, reaching for things. Placing certain stresses on our bodies allow them to become stronger/mobile in different ways, in this case making the spine stronger through these ranges. Dan John has no interest or experience with clubbells, great as he is with loads of other coaching. One example is single-arm kettlebell swings, where's the evidence that these are bad per se? Take that with a grain of course, I'm not a doctor, but I've only seen strength and mobility gains, back never felt stronger and feels increasingly less likely to give me trouble, while around me people are constantly in bother with theirs ( anecdotal of course ). I get where you are coming from though, Mark slinging around 88lb levers after talking about 'suicide-fall' routines blowing his knee apart 😂
@robbell7630
@robbell7630 Ай бұрын
It seems to me context and an examination of “heavy” on a relative spectrum. ie a “heavy club” is a heavy _club_. The ones Mark is talking about are ~90 lbs and he’s in the waaay upper end. Maces would be even less. Vs for the same individual a 90lb barbell would in all likelihood in no way be heavy. In addition, the positioning is very different where the clubs, while ultimately still bearing on the spine, have some suspension effect from arms etc. whereas the greater weight of the barbell would be bearing directly on vertebra & discs; in the case of a back squat. So my position would be: heavy is relative, the human body is incredible in its ability to adapt & build capacity in response to _progressive_ stressors. Start easy, pay attention to feedback and go have fun. Not a Dr or physio, YMMV
@CharitonIosifides
@CharitonIosifides Ай бұрын
You know that Dan John still throws the discus, right? That is rotation with weight. So, it’s relative. And Dan John himself would add a “however…” in any statement.

Mark, are all bases covered just doing single hand club work or do you see a glaring gap without 2-hand work?
@aaronholub5427
@aaronholub5427 Ай бұрын
Two hand club forces a full rotation. You can cheat and rotate less with one hand. So the 2 hand makes your 1 hand better. And you can get twice as heavy with 2 hands so your core gets a stronger workout. Hips glutes obliques everything. You gotta do both

How tall are you? You look pretty tall. Most people aren't. That said, how do you expect people of average or lower height not to drag the ground with the tip of the club? I hope I'm wrong about this and that we're not dealing with an assumptive design oversight.
