My dad was having issues with the racoons around his chickens a few years ago. He was trapping them and taking them over and bridge and releasing then far away. Then he found out it was illegal to move them more than 100yrds from where you catch them, but it was not illegal to kill them. So he bought a box of sub-sonic .22's and would just pop then while they were in the trap.

We had major raccoon issues on our property as well. County guys told us it was a big problem around us. Our turkey population dropped off…same with quail and pheasants too. Got a hatsan air rifle to humanely (quickly) dispatch them.

I'm in TN and was expanding one of our mulch beds so I took a mattock to basically cut sod and move the grass to a different part of the yard. I was seeing grubs every six inches and they looked active. I was planning to drop GrubEx on the yard sometime around the first of April but I think I'll move that up. Just an FYI to those who might be in that range where soil temps are above 50F now.

This video popped up as soon as it started dumping water outside and I just finished putting down pre emergent, some 10-10-10, and some humi-char. Should I be worried about it getting washed out?

2 days of rain and you are complaining? I have, sometimes, rain in the spring for 5-7 days, and in the autumn the same, but its cloudy from october to mid november, having a max of 5 days of sun during that period.... My lawn was yellowing and thinning out during last autumn because of the lack sunlight and heavy rain.

Question - Can I apply lime, fertilizer & a pre-emergent all in the same day or would it be best to apply each product individually and wait a few days before my next application and if so which product should I apply first?

If you want to catch Racoons instead of Opossums, use marsh mellows as bait.

Doc, Love the videos. very informative. Just got New construction house and Sod( Bermuda) was laid in OCT( front) and DEC (Rear), of house. Trying to level and go for a more golf course style up keep. I hired and fired... a lawn Fert company. who applied pre emergent( saying once sod has been down for 4 weeks it is ok to apply pre emergent). is my turf ruined? back yard starting to green up nicely. but front yard has minimal greening so far. Cut backyard to 3/4 of inch to remove dead/dormant grass. Please advise! Thank you!

Got my soil test back from Clemson. The 3 areas I tested are all different, so I needed many different fertilizers from Anderson. But my calcium is off the charts. What corrects that? Also you said if something was high it means your soil is hard. What was that? Thanks so much.

Probably after. I have found that poa annua seeds get distributed at that time.

Peanut butter is the easiest because we can carry a jar around but small dry dog food works well too.

I'll send you all of mine PLUS the wild hogs! Both species can become overrun and tear up your outdoor equipment. They will remain unchecked w/o the presence of natural predators.
