On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Had a couple thoughts for possibly entertaining fights. 1. A three-way fight where each opponent at first has an assigned target. Paper/rock/scissors until one is dead. 2. A championship style closing 1 on 1 or scrum where Fox3 kills are worth say 1 point, Fox2 kill is worth more, and Guns kill worth more than Fox2. Total score after X# rounds.

9:45 was like whoa! He's going to either crop dust or smack the ground! Then I thought that his consequent low altitude ejection, was going to be the top cinematic for the fight and then Growling must have said to himself... "You know what would put the cherry on top of this round? A Top Gun style cinematic pass by the camera man... let's just put that at 10:40. Niiiice." Beautiful jet, beautiful paint scheme and a victorious Growling! We didn't get Top Gun 2 in the theatres, but Growling Sidewinder certainly is trying to give the audience what we don't get from Hollywood anymore, epic and immersive, edge of your seat entertainment!

Great video! Really points out how evenly matched most 4th and 5th gen fighters are in a 1v1 fight, and how it comes down to pilot skills and knowledge of his or her aircraft capabilities as well as the opponent’s aircraft and pilot capabilities. The TacView is a great supplement to your lessons as well. I’d love to see some demonstrations of 2v2 dogfights if you can ever put that together with your buddies like Longshot, but I’m sure that’s challenging from a logistics standpoint. Most folks know the F-14 came out of the failed F-111B project for the Navy, but most don't know the Navy was who mandated the side by side seating the F-111 ended up with, and then the Navy switched back to tandem seating. I think they did it to sink the F-111B, as they didn't want the SECDEF to dictate what airplane they got.

I think the TID was eighty pounds, the TX was two hundred lbs. Plus, I remember playing the F-15 game on my Commodore 64, back in the day. It makes me wonder what a 21st century F-14 would be like, if all the weight, was striped from the dry weight of the bird, just from modern electronics, and with modern engines pushing it around. Anyway, keep them coming! And always get Longshot in now and then; the hilarity between you two is contagious!

Wow, the shot at 4:50 has almost WWI vibes. You're basically fighting over the area of a large parking lot.

I'm hooked on these videos....especially the Tomcat, being that generation who grew up with Maverick & Goose 😂, it's great to see it again. I loved the theory lesson at the end. Only getting into fighter jets now , so explaining it in layman's terms is super beneficial. 👌

Awesome video as usual! The educational bit is priceless. Thanks for the easy definition of 1 circle and 2 circle... Nose to Nose vs Nose to Tail was perfect. Can you elaborate of the "rate fight" vs "radius fight", what do you mean by those terms? Keep up the great work!

I believe rate fight is when you are both locked into a turning (2-circle, nose-to-tail) fight, and you are relying on your conservation of energy to keep your plane at it's maximum turning rate (degrees per second), allowing you to pull the opponent into your HUD for a high percentage missile or gun shot. The danger here is that if you pull too hard and cash out all your energy, and then MISS your shot, while the opponent has conserved their energy, they will be able to "rate" you into their HUD and kill you. It helps if your platform can turn as well as the bandit, of course, or better. A radius fight (1-circle, nose-to-nose) is normally used if you believe you have a degree of superiority in a "bat turn", and can turn inside the opponent's nose quick enough for a close range missile shot, or a gun shot, hopefully without a return shot. I believe the big delta-wing platforms are supposed to be good at this. Of course, if they miss that shot, they have often used so much of their energy trying to enable it, that it can be difficult for them to regain their maneuvering energy without giving their opponent a good opportunity to kill them. Hopefully I am correct in this explanation, and I think that I am. Luck! :)

I'm surprised GS has bestowed the honor upon the VF-1 jets that I sent to HB. Albeit now with new documentation I need to make some small tweaks and correction to those skins once I get the chance to.
