Military series was marked with ♦(not red -- just a contour). Was called "military acceptance". There also were some series that weren't be in the mass distribution: МП11, МП14 for example. But that rhomb sign is mandatory for any electronics for the army. Those accepted parts though was used in civil too.

If you want even MORE balls out of it, move the output cap to the c / b10k junction instead. That will give a substantial volume boost that will be independent of the bias pot settings. Did it on the schizoid face and skydog fuzzes, you can even use a fs to toggle between them for a " lead boost".
@guerrillaradio9953
@guerrillaradio9953 9 ай бұрын
Do you mean attaching the output cap to one of the sides of the bias pot instead of the wiper like he has? If so, I'm guessing you mean grounding it (i.e., before the bias pot in the circuit in the schematic as drawn) because it would be independent of the bias settings. I'm still learning electronics, so go easy on me lol. I found an old tin box of my dad's components from the 60s and there's dozens of germaniums in there....time to make some mojo!

I recommend building a simple jig for pots and solder wires to them to connect to the bread. Super comfy to tweak sound. I just took a beer box, cut holes for pots and put the breadboard inside the box and I have a setup that won't disconnect and make funny while I test stuff.

i have been looking at rangemaster stuff . about to start building some . i have three pcbs . two from tayda , and one from general gutiar gadgets someone gave me these ! so the ggg one i will use with a 9 volt battery internal to solve the charge pump issue . then i was looking at input cap selector ideas , i considered using a rotary switch as i have a bunch of those from pull outs of computer switch boxs . i think i am boing to try a cap blend .with a pot . settling on 4500pf - 47nf - i have to see . i see the dam red rooster has 4700pf to a 2.2uf , and another guy had a 1uf ... i am gonna make a silicon transistor version and a germanium . amp "buildin" is by FAR my favorite things . i mean i try to not say build , i prefer hack or slap together because i try to keep it real , especially when i am typically using a chinesium class d amp board ... but yeah i came back to this video for reference today .and to see me again on the BIG SCREEN ! ty :)

Bro when converting pnp to npn, you gotta flip the electros and any diodes polarities as well as the power supply. You CAN run pnp's in an npn circuit, sometimes, if the transistor is buffered by caps at all points, the q won't care, as jack orman pointed out on amz years ago... but it often will become unstable when you turn your gtr down or off, where it sounds like either tunable oscillation or detuned radio static crossed with mating water buffallo. Dude, digging this vid...peace

i got a guy who goes by CMC effects to build me a rangemaster with a knob that sweeps the lower cutoff frequency of the boost. it's my favorite pedal. i can use it to make any amp sound like any other amp. i can get the low end on my jcm800 so fat it sounds like an orange. i can get my champ to sound like its my jcm800 (or an orange) obviously i'm talking about getting the lows and mids positioned in terms of coping another amps sound with the rangemaster, because you're still stuck with the gain structure of the rangemaster and the amp you have and there will always be that germanium color to a germanium pedal like that, but it's still fucking mindblowing. it's like having an EQ pedal, massive DB boost, and something that makes cool germanium textures all in one box. get one while you can still get ahold of germaniums. i also got a tonebender mkii from that guy, that thing rips. it's like a fuzz face but more crazy. lots of gain and low end.

i never thought to wire the power to the bottom of the breadboard and the led trick is also something theft worthy . i remember building the devils triangle sequencer and i spent 12 hours on the jumpers and cuts alone = prepping the veroboard . i built one it worked , wanted another so that time it was 4 , 3 where bad . i had bad jfets on the sputnik 2 millenium bypas that ruined my life . this digitech multiplay had a twisted electro cap that shorted itself that took me 6 months to find . i was praying and laying on hands about to bust out the snakes when i cought that one . its covered in extra switches jacks and knobs , modded 6 ways from sunday now . at that point you have to play the patient mans game . stuff like bad jfets , incorrect pinouts , or my FAVORITE when people post BAD layouts that do not work but they write "verified " on them . i could give you a LIST. the Ethereum spring reverb or what ever that jerk called it - he was selling pcbs that didnt work . imagine that , and there was no apparent way to fix them . the company who printed the pcbs alerted me . then the guy said " i never said i was an electronics expert" ... we'll there is the fact that you call yourself quantem effects and you have that logo with the molecules humping each other - that kind of implys a FEW things but ahem ... we built three of them and all of them where dead as ducks , i asked gomti nicely to pull another BOM @ 3 am and i had the VERO BUILD populated and running in time to leave for UP michigan at 7 am the next morning.... that spring reverb lives in a jfet marshal superbass 100 clone (class d) with internal li ion battery pack , its a killer amp - i know what you like you would love that circuit - -best low gain tone i ever heard out of a solid state and for diy its a high mark... but talk about frustrating- building something 4 times to get a working proto. thanks for mentioning me in this one , i am learning a lot and enjoying it quite a bit and will comment more . i tried pad per hole one time and i was cloning someone elses circuit , it was like a 555 noise oscillator ( call one of those circuits a "SYNTH" in my presence and expect a hardy SLAP) i hated pad per hole , as close as i have come is using those old rat shack pcb blanks that have the ic chip alotment in the center but... i got good at vero ... the image you showed isnt even my best work , i have some vero sh@t that is museum piece , you could eat off them ! well maybe do your hair . i get robo soldering with reflow techniques , then usin flux . Donna and i enjoyed the drillin the box segment - we dont get to see fancy drill press in action much ! such an enjoyable and informative entertaining video pal !! shoulda known better to NOT use that old fouled part - man thats JUST what i was saying cuzz i do the same thing all the time ... the thing is its like i will always know what i am doing is dumb but i do it anyway to be cheap . - instant regret .

Thank you so much for all the kind words Petey. I am a hack and I don't really know what I'm doing but I can always seems to get the desired results through persistence and I try to share my experiences and small bits of info i pick up in the process with others. Here's something funny... I posted this schematic on the pedal forum on Facebook apparently it "cant work" Yep and Neodymium is no good for pickups right? Hahaha According to the guys with education in electronics it is impossible because I have no voltage on the base of the first transistor. I'm like guys Ive built that gain stage many times its how I test the sound of germanium transistors it works I have video proof. They are like well thats not how a transistor works its a 1 off fluke... unrepeatable. I'm like nope Ive done this many times bread board it and see it works every-time. "Ahh well you arent educated in electronics at all are you" Nope and thats why I did something that "cant work" and got the sound I wanted from simply spending time stabbing parts and switching circuits till it did what I was after. LOL I love that kinda stuff. That guy smartly said some remark like "well you must have made a new scientific discovery and need a Nobel prize" I don't need your book to tell me what my guitar sounds like. Its got a hell of an output for something that "cant work". So apparently this is a "bad schematic" Obviously it works though? Anyway, I can totally see the benefits of using strip-board for building complicated layouts but I am too much of the lazy hack to sit there and figure out my own layout on it. I like to just go any which way that suits me. Now tag board, turret board and terminal strip thats something I could really get behind but its too damn high. I used turret board in that champ clone and it was a dream soooo easy soooo simple. You seem to really have some stern ideas about not calling an oscillator a synthesizer? Whats up with that Petey? When does it become a synth? I mean Is it a synth if you add a filter? DX7 doesn't have a filter. Does it need ADSR? Monotron duo doesnt have an ADSR but it has 2 VCOs and a VCF and it says synthesizer right on it LOL what about a keyboard? Buchla resisted adding a keyboard. Gakken has LFO, ADSR and VCF but only 1 VCO and no keyboard it says synthesizer on it too Hahaha Just messin with you bro... pokin the bear. Thank you for watching Petey. I did know better than to use that old pot but you know how it goes I was like hell I'll just use it up, this is my own pedal it'll be fine, nope. I will tell you 1 thing this video took a long ass time to record and longer to edit, hell it took 2 days to upload. wooh Im glad thats all behind me. You guys take it easy and stay cool i think im gonna rest a while now.

The song you keep playing at 5:40 reminds me of The Weight by The Band. Very cool videos! I watched all the way to the end and I do have a short attention span. The pedal sounds fantastic my friend. I started breadboarding because of your earlier videos but set it down for a little while. I’m in the middle of a remodel and it’s taking longer than I originally thought it would. Can’t wait to get back to it though. I found a organ for free on market place and I was able to scavenge tons of parts from it, including some really cool looking germanium diodes as well as sprauge caps. I built a simple distortion circuit with the germanium diodes and it sounded godly. I too was at the kitchen table for at least 10 hours tweaking my circuit and driving my wife crazy before I came to some sort of ear pleasing conclusion. Also check out the electro harmonix pedal called the Germanium Overdrive! It reminds me a lot like what you got going on here. It has an adjustable voltage and bias pot to mimic a dying battery sound if you want. I love the way that pedal sounds in demo and I might try your design because it’s similar.

I dialed it in on the breadboard using some Soviet NPN Ge’s (yours looked like MP6A, I’ve got MP10A, 35, 36A, and 37s) and it sounds better than any of the (many) previous Rangemaster-like circuits I’ve attempted. Would you happen to have a strip, vero, or tagboard layout you could share? I really want to box it up so I can use it away from my bench but haven’t really spent time converting schematics to layouts. If not, no worries. If so, that would be righteous. Great vid. Thanks for watching and taking the time to write a comment General. Yes its getting harder by the day. I have found one good way to get Ge transistors is to buy old transistor radios and tape machines, cb radios, scanners etc. from thrift stores. I can pretty much look at something and know if its got germanium in it and if I'm in doubt I smell it. I cant smell the germanium transistors themselves but that age of electronics (late 50s to mid 60s) has a smell. I don't know how to describe it but Its pretty recognizable if you have smelled it before its a sour metallic old grease smell, 70s electronics smell different they have kinda a melted plastic and a hint of citrus. Im not being cheeky here either after a while of messing with old junk youll learn the smell. The old tube stuff smells like burning grandma and mothballs and if its got selenium rectifiers it makes a wild strong petroleum smell. Damn i went on a tangent there... old equipment at thrift stores sometimes has germanium in it. LOL

I understand you were probably wanting something like a stripboard or parts layout. I had a viewer email me showing stripboard layout copy that he created but I am unaware if it is publicly available on the layout websites? Once again though Brian thank you so much for the interest and query I will try to keep this question in mind making plans to move forward as I have been away from the channel for some time working in the background on possible future moves.
