I completely get it, we think of ourselves as machines, and if we’re not productive we have a feeling of dissatisfaction. I believe the meaning of life is life itself, meaning that our purpose is to just be and experience life. we haven’t come here to accomplish anything but experience our existence until it’s time to depart. productivity is a social norm, yes, but in a sense, it stems from our ancestors’ need for survival. Ultimately I don’t know what to do having said all of this lol

@@uvwuvw-ol3fg Yes, not to mention the fact that society itself necessitates productivity in its population, otherwise there would not be any society, it would be an anarchical type system where everyone is fighting for their own right to survival. To some extent, the productivity is a coping mechanism. I have rarely found anyone who is really good at what they do to really obsess that much about "being productive" they simply DO things. The eurocentrism of discussions in our society is utterly baffling. It is as if relevant world timelines go Proto-greek, Greek, Roman, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Enlightenment, Industrial Age and then Modern Age. The Judeo-Christian connection is randomly thrown in there as well. Let me say this Greek Philosophy is neither equivalent to world philosophy nor is the first school of world philosophy. This misconception is abundant, quite obvious and misleading. For instance, the father of medicine is considered Hippocratus, while the first physician is Imhotep, lived a few thousand years before him. Similarly, we live in a world where the founder of "Chinese Medicine" lived a millennia before the founder of medicine. What kind of blatant joke is this?!

Haiti and South Africa are as they are because of European and American powers abusing them. In the case of Haiti, those foreign powers didn’t like Haiti being ruled by the only successful slave rebellion. I’m a retired American living in Mexico, and when the Haitian refugees arrived in Tijuana to attempt to enter the US, which refused them like 4 years ago, they didn’t even look like refugees. They were clean, well dressed, and didn’t start asking for handouts or live in tent cities - unlike the Central American caravans. They immediately got jobs, Mexican girlfriends, and homes. They began to participate in Tijuana culture. And they didn’t even speak Spanish or English, but French Creole…

@@tribudeuno LOL, do you know how and when Haiti got it's independance? They slaughtered their French colonisers in the Haitian Revolution and in 1804 became the first independent nation of Latin America and the Caribbean, the second republic in the Americas, the first country to abolish slavery, and the only state in history established by a successful slave revolt. Yet despite all of this and more than 200 years of independence, Haiti has remained a giant cesspool. Japan in the other hand had two nukes dropped on them in WW2 (among many other horrible things that you could easily read up on) yet was able to recover in only 40 years becoming a first world country and producing some of the most advanced technology in world. And no European and Americans where holding them back ever since WW2, so what stopped Haiti from doing the same in the 200 years that they had? And Tijuana, in drug cartel controlled Mexico, isn't exactly a place known for being clean, free of crime and productive, so no wonder that they were able to pick up girlfriends and "fit in" with the culture there quite well, lol. 🤔🤣

@@ohlawd3699 … Like I said in my first post, Haiti was constantly prohibited from real development by European and American intervention. They couldn’t permit a successful black nation to be an example to other black populations, particularly to American black populations… Japan would have never been an expansionist empire without the US threatening it out of its isolationism in the 19th Century. Japan then saw - erroneously - its need to become a military power also. I say erroneously because all empires fall, all of them. Just as the US is currently in the free fall of collapse due to its expansionism… “You must never THINK of conquering others by force. Whatever strains with force will soon decay. It is not attuned to the Tao. Not being attuned to the Tao, its end comes all too soon”… Tao Te Ching “To the conqueror comes a conqueror”… Gautama Buddha America is also responsible for the drug war in Mexico. A lot of money is being made in the War On Drugs by The Complex. Portugal has resolved the drug addiction problem by legalizing them all. What you resist, persists. But there’s no money in that. If the US legalized all drugs, the cartel leaders would be forced to sell hot dogs on Avenida Revolucion in Tijuana. But what do you prefer?: Be around a drug war, where the one drug cartel is killing members of another cartel; or the situation in Los Angeles where neophytes in a street gang are forced to kill people at random to prove themselves? Daily, these gang members are deported to Tijuana, but don’t form up into gangs once in Mexico. 17 years in Tijuana, and I haven’t seen any street gang activity. The US is the violent environment that fosters violence, since it is an empire. Look into the history of MS13, and you will see how the US created what National Geographic has call The World’s Most Dangerous Gang…

Sometimes it is better to read and research more before writing a hot take. 'Joining the Nazi Party' was mainly a pragmatic decision on his part in his role as dean of a department at a university... That aside - what he liked about the Nazi party was that it 'woke up a sleeping nation'. If you think as deeply as he did - you might well find yourself into the 'new and exciting' Yes - he wrote correspondence with generalisations about various racial or cultural groups...often in the anthropological. Rhetorically, it was a horrible intro by Lex. Sean did a great job

@@stephenmcnamara8318 It's been virtually impossible to defend this take since the Black Notebooks were released. Heidegger became an anti-semite at some point in his life despite his best friend and teacher, Husserl, being Jewish, and his later partner Hannah Arendt also being Jewish.

@@thembluetube Under contemporary public or american understanding of anti-semite - completely agree. But I do know just how prevalent anything he wrote there remains in non public thought and discourse throughout the world I know my old Prof Figal publicly distanced himself after that was released...understand too...but everything in there I expected would have been.. Sean is a Prof at Harvard - a place that also had its share of blatant anti-semitism - well beyond ww2...and Yale was a refuge. If before that was released you were holding a sliver of hope that exacrly that was not in there, you were blindly naive.

@@stephenmcnamara8318 you Used Figals Arguments, i knew it. But to say he just used fascism to promote his philosphy am therefore is no real beliver politically naive. Still a great Professor.

@@othergroup How about Whether or not he was a Nazi never interested me. I think 80yrs on we see similar capacity for horror or evil in many more regions and cultures - and the 'never' in 'never again' is proving very short. I understand the public demands positions be taken - i find it boring compared to the thougjts

I think it's total nonsense that philosophy took us here. Most philosophers have pushed against atheism and its related ideas and lack of spirituality. Philosophers have been trying to find a way to live fulfilled _despite_ technological advances.

Heidegger? Really? What about the channel's reputation? We've had 100 years of scientifically/logically oriented philosophy and we still have to listen to Heidegger's easy platitudes?
