I love this song so much and have found nowhere any trace of a loop version, so I have decided to make it myself.

It's amazing for cultures such as the Nordic, the indigenous peoples of New Zealand, North America, Africa and South America all have similar chants and respect for nature. If I didn't know better this could easily pass for a Haka from New Zealand.

I thought the same, even the name hakkerskaldyr, hakker, haka. Skaldyr, skald, I believe meant song or singer. My guess is it means war song. But idk, either way I love it!
@erxfav31972 жыл бұрын
Well, actually I don’t think there was any evidence for a war chant such as this (which resembles the Maori ones)... So they likely made this after hearing other cultures.. (Anyone feel free to correct me on this if I am wrong.. But I don’t think there is much evidence of what ancient Scandinavian cultures did for things like this and even in general there isn’t all that much to glean from...)

Imagine it; A thousand years ago: You're a Roman legionnaire, you've been told to head north to the lands of barbarians and savages. The trees around you are vast and tall, snow covers the rocky scrub brush under foot, the chill and frost sticks to your armor Mist starts to form and flow from between the trees like deaths very fingers reaching for you and your brothers... Then the trees....the trees start singing the song of death in a language that you do not know...but you do not need to know the language to know that here, in this place...you will meet Elysium.... The voices grow stronger and closer...echoing into the thousands surrounding you and your men... You know fear for the first time, your shield cannot protect you from the chill sinking into your bones, or what is to come...

Very well said DraccoKnightblade!! A Roman general once wrote that his troops would shiver in fear when they heard the northern tribes warriors cry out these battle chants.

Do you know at least a bit of history, Germania Magna was important to the Romans from the point of view of jewels, such as amber, and the timber, after the betrayal of Arminius, Octavian had several expeditions (all with good success) made with the Germanic general, and made his revenge in Idistaviso where there was a great victory of the Romans, the song is not from that period, it is antecedent, it speaks of pre-Germanic language, at the time the Etruscans revered Teiwaz (Týr) and Harigasti ( Odin)

The Gladius is good for the battle in to the forest Italy is full of forests, such as Abruzzo, Umbria, Campania, Lazio, Piedmont, Lombardy, Valle d'Aosta, Veneto, Friuli, Trentino and not to mention Gaul ( France) and Britain (England) and then Etruscan is a language written in Runic also belonging to the Northern Italian languages and therefore to the Proto-Germanic languages

@@7hbtzproductionstm581 You got to know that what you’re explaining isn’t a little bit of history every one should know but specific knowledge of someone who is interested in the matter. Most people, if they know anything about the history of the Romans in Germania at all, think about the 3 killed legions. Which is still kind of a fair point, as it was, also to the Romans, a big shock to loose this bad against an undeveloped, unorganized, undisciplined, in short barbaric enemy.
