The Heinrich Maneuver

Three brothers work on a 1981 BMW R100CS. While working on this airhead we installed a Heinrich Fuhrman tank and engineered a way to remove the seat cowl, while keeping the tank installed on the bike. Bought some parts at Bob's BMW (now Bob's Motorcycles).

Just looked at your bike with the Wixom fairing. A Heinrich would look awesome on it.

Hi there, I sadly have this Heinrich tank "addiction". I have six of them now. At the present time neither one is For Sale, unless of course the price is so rich, but that would not feel "right". I have a special connection with Karl Duffner (may he rest in peace) whom was friends with Karl Heinrich, at least 2 tanks I own where orders from my friends that Karl Duffner took to Karl Heinrich in Germany, he made them and Duffner brought them back.

Looks great! Does the big Heinrich tank fit on the RS as it is? Nothing special needed?

Hi Marcel, thanks for watching! The big Fuhrman tank requires a somewhat unique contraption to bolt the rear of the tank to the frame. From a bike's perspective, nothing needs to be modified to accept the Heinrich Fuhrmann tank. The smaller 8 gallon tanks are literally bolt on, however on my RS it did require some some custom bracket work for the fairing support underneath the tank.
