For real. Before I watched One Piece Ace dying in Marineford was already spoiled to me. I didn't know how it was going to happened butI knew he died but damn I wasn't expecting to be hit in the feels that hard until Luffy broke. That hit me in the feels hard. Luffy's VA was amazing 👏

The craziest part is that he easily could have killed Akainu despite all of that, and only didn’t because he was a pure hearted family man who was stated to have never killed anyone, not even Blackbeard or Akainu who both killed his sons. He had an unbelievable amount of mercy towards both simply out of love for everyone. Rewatch it, he spares tons of people he could kill easily and spared Akainu and Blackbeard who aren’t so easy but he was definitely capable even in his old age with injuries and nerfs

There were multiple people who in the war who would probably kill him. Mihawk, OG admirals (in a long fight), Sengoku, Garp, and the visitor at the end.
