i used to love the muppet show! i miss variety television like this, and family entertainment. the stuff on tv now is scandalous and not even entertaining. i miss the good ole 70's and 80's tv.

Very cute! I had read that Helen Reddy was born into a family of vaudeville actors and had been on stage since age 4. This probably felt natural to her :)

@bckirchoff Well, all I know is that Gale in addition to having a rich singing voice,was, at the time she recorded the song(1964), was a STUNNINGLY beautiful woman, like a model! Just look up the Wikipedia article on her. There's a picture of her on the album from which the song came. I think you'll agree she's gorgeous! Dark brown, or black hair and crystal blue eyes! With her talent and beauty, Gale should have a bigger star. Sadly, she's a one hit wonder.

@hockeyham3 I didn't say that THIS was Gale Garnett. Gale is the original singer of this song, who had a one hit wonder in 1964 with this tune. Gale wrote it. I know this is Helen Reddy, I remember this episode.

At first I thought it was a really complicated marionette, but then I realized it was two guys in a suit. I'm surprised I didn't think of that first.

Can you imagine being one of the two people in the camel suit?

. Uhmm ... has anyone else noticed *how "cruel"* this song actually is? . She's essentially telling some guy that she is PLANNING to use-then-abandon him (... as her own dad has instructed her to do). . This really seems to be one of those "lovely-voice ... vicious-lyrics" tunes ... that people 'like' largely due to the melody and tend to miss the 'meaning'. . *"I am woman ... hear me roar" ... ugh !* .
