New subscriber - just stumbled upon your channel. My family holidayed in Helford several times when I was a child and this episode brought back a lot of great memories. It's a stunningly beautiful part of the UK. We used to rent the house that owns the right hand of the two white boathouses which can be seen at 2:47. Having the boat at the end of the garden and the ability to reach beaches and coves that were almost inaccessible apart from by boat (as you found out) was a real luxury. Loving the videos !

One of our favourite spots. That is apart from the time our anchor kept dragging so we spent a stormy night on a mooring thinking that our little Jaguar 21 was going to capsize. The next night we dried out at Port Navas Yacht Club where we had a beautiful, very memorable meal out.

Hi Guys. I’m 57 years old now and living in Kenya, East Africa. I just love your Cornwall series, it brings back so many memories of my childhood. You should, Robert, there’s some really great places to see. I only found out very recently about my Scottish, Irish and ‘Celtic’ ancestry (although after 40yrs of looking in the mirror, it shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise) and its ignited a curiosity in me that’s made visiting some of these places so much more profound.

Lovely video that captures the Helford's beauty! Centuries ago those oak woods were coppiced regularly to harvest the bark for tanning leather. The timber was mostly converted to firewood and charcoal. That's why you can see many tracks and platforms deep in the woods. They were abandoned in the 1920s and have developed into the rich forest you can see now, with many rare plants. I think my friend Matt was rowing in one of the gigs at the end of your episode!

Hi, an amazing place and far from the crowds . Having visited Cornwall many times the only way to see what is what is by boat, easy to spend all summer just pottering around . Hank, is an Hugarian vizsla ? there was one on TV the other night , who grew up with a young lady who suffered a medical condition and the dog got to warn her, that an attack was about to happen , so after some time the dog went away to be properly trained to become a Medical Assist dog and would ware a red vest . Thanks for another great video .

Your talent for finding some of the most beautiful and enchanted places in England is quite remarkable. Coming upon villages that as you said, almost feel like a motion picture set, that has captured and held on to days of old, for at least a moment in time. Walking through a nearly untouched forest, where getting lost is both a possibility and a pleasure at the same time. I wonder how Hank felt about all of this. Did he take it all in as just another day in a dogs life, or did he let you know he would like to live in the forest with nature forever. Stay groovy and stay safe.

The SW corner of the UK and even as far North as the West coast of scotland have residual wet maritime woodlands tucked away in the River valleys ... usually where the slopes are two steep or wet for improved pasture or crops.. higher up on the Moors in the boulder fields you get the so called fairy woods... Stunted trees covered in Epiphites, moss and lichens ..best known of these ancient oak remnants is Whistman's wood on S. Dartmoor. They are actually classed as temperate rainforests.. The are a product of the Wet SW winds and the warming effect of the Gulf stream bathing the Western European shores otherwise we would have the same sort of winter Temperatures as Moscow and Newfoundland.

@@CadohaAdventures I’ve been enjoying your videos. Isles of Scilly, Dartmouth, Helford etc. Your Salcombe visit brought you up into The Bag, just across from Winters Boatyard where I keep my boat. Another peaceful anchorage (although pretty bouncy this week I should imagine).

End of September is when we were there but I imagine it’s not too much fun in a blow, especially if a blow was coming in from the east at all 🥺🥺

Yes it’s not nice in an easterly, I had to go rescue a friends boat that was filling up with water in a strong easterly it was pretty nervy 😂

It’s the least I could do since I sold him the boat in the first place 😂. Could I ask you guys a favour. I’ve just started my channel and am just putting together my first real video. How did you guys get your stuff out there? I can barely find my own videos and I know they’re there. How have you been advertising your channel or have you just put them on here and they’ve just been successful?
@CadohaAdventures
@CadohaAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
@@lovesailing4533 no we’ve never advertised the videos, although we do share them sometimes on a Facebook KZfaq sailing channels page, so that may be worth doing, they have 30,000+ members there so that could give you a boost? Our channel was just for mum and dad, and a couple of friends to see what we were up to, which is fairly evident in the early videos. Anyway, out of nowhere our fourth video just blew up and got like 100,000 views, when the three previous to that received about 35 on average, each 🤷‍♂️ I wish I could tell you how or why that video did so well, because I have no clue, and that is evidenced by the fact that we’ve never been able to replicate that again, three years later 🤣 My only advice would be to create something you’re proud of, make something that you yourself would enjoy watching, just keep doing it, and eventually others will tune in too. Best of luck 🙏

I have enjoyed your videos right from the beginning but now have a bit of a personal plea: We have visited the Helford several times in our cruises along the Devon and Cornish coasts and I share your view of it's idyllic nature. We have always taken a mooring buoy but this year we are giving up our marina berth at Plymouth in advance of selling our boat (failing mobility and finances finally catching up with me) so I may well be adopting the live aboard lifestyle for a bit and need to lie at anchor rather than pay fees. Can you divulge anchorages both in the Helford and nearby cruising grounds that you would consider?

I do (Dominic) I spend days just listening to music that I think may be complementary and file it away to come back to, often times months later when I happen to have visited the 'right place'. Carly on the other hand is 100% our instagram creator and nails photos in a way that I couldn't dream of.

As you kids are living this life i figure you would want to know that James Wharram designer and builder of Polynesian style Catamaran s. And a father of modern multihull sailing died on The 14 December 2021 age 93 Raised in manchester England and late of near Falmouth. He set sail in his home made Catamaran in 1955. His life and his story was litteraly decades ahead of the times and Sailing channel s on U tube have little or nothing on his journeys across Seas and oceans .. they are litteraly and metaphorically following in his wake. ⛵⚓🌐🏝️🎆 He chose his last ebb tide rather than the fog and reefs of Altzhimers. Look his story up on U-tube and the Falmouth local paper .. for his obituary. 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔
