Jordan P I thought it was quite good if I’m honest. I loved the idea of the 3 families, blessing, the world falling apart and all these secrets. However it’s no children of Earth.

@@ciaran_telfer_18 I think the main reasons people hate it are that it felt stretched out in places and it was too far removed from what Torchwood was at that point, if you take out Jack and Gwen you wouldn't even be able to recognise the show as Torchwood, its the same problem the recent Sherlock series has (The difference being Series 3 or Torchwood was fucking amazing).

@Jordan P Exactly, whilst old Torchwood took several concepts per episode and Children of Earth was able to carry 5 with about 5 by backing it up with a shit ton of drama and a fresh but still recognisable story; Miracle Day takes about 3 and tries to milk 10 episodes out of them.

However, Jack’s blood shares the same fixed point in time properties that Jack does (there’s a hotel room in Cardiff that had to be bordered up because they couldn’t clean his blood out) so the Blessing used that as a template. It then manipulated the Earth’s morphic fields into attaching every human being to the Time vortex whilst cutting off Jack’s connection to it.

Trust me you're not the only one who likes Miracle Day, it's my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE series of Torchwood (Children Of Earth maybe better written in some aspects but no miracle day is just better in my mind)

Most of the general audience actually liked it, which makes sense since overall it was an excellently written piece of television and one of the best series of Torchwood. Don't let the subset of Torchwood diehards who just hate it because it's largely American fool you.

honestly its really the last 2 episodes that ruin it the first 3 were pretty good

I kinda liked it. Felt a bit wayward at times with how they tried to resolve the whole PhiCorp business but it had some good moments and a fairly Torchwood-y resolution.

ANYONE who watches it OBJECTIVELY would not be able to come close to the ridiculous assertions you people make. Please go back and rewatch series 1 of the show and say that again with a straight face.

Series 3: Children of Earth is my favourite. I loved Jack, Gwen and Ianto in it as well as Frobisher and Clem. The 456 were a scary concept and the story was so enticing.

Sure it does. Sheldrake - the man who came up with the theory of morphic fields that Miracle Day is based on - thinks that the LAWS of nature are more like nature’s HABITS and that organisms have a memory innately built into their very structure of how LIKE organisms have been and behaved and reacted before them, which is the morphic field. To Sheldrake, DNA is not something that commands the body’s functions to occur and such; DNA is more like a receiver that gets the instructions issued forth by the morphic field and enacts them to cause those formations and functions and such. In Torchwood: Miracle Day, there’s “the Blessing,” which, in an interview part of the behind-the-scenes Torchwood: Declassified, Russell T. Davies describes as a “crack through the world, this mysterious schism in reality, really, that, um, runs throughout the entire Earth.” It is an integral part of the planet itself which is connected to the world’s morphic fields, apparently generating them, perhaps. So it would be the thing broadcasting those instructions out, or at least capable of manipulating them because the two are so inextricably linked. Jack’s blood is basically the same as any other human’s, except of course his life force was infused with time energy, so he’s immortal and everything. So when the Three Families fed the Blessing Jack’s blood, it was forced into changing what it was broadcasting in order to accommodate the different effects introduced into it that Jack’s DNA followed, attempting to replicate those effects in all of the humans connected to the same morphic field across the planet, encoding their bodies to behave the way Jack’s would act, effectively flipping everything and making everyone immortal EXCEPT for Jack - but not doing so very successfully, obviously, since it was less perfect than Jack’s original immortality was, due it being forced and across an entire species and not having the benefit of the TARDIS Matrix (via the semi-possessed Rose Tyler) guiding it with time energy to do so, like Jack did. In the same interview mentioned above, Davies said “[the Blessing]’s now sustaining life on Earth in an immortal pattern; it’s copied Jack’s blood and keeps everyone in this field, every single person, every single one of us on the Earth alive.” So when they introduced Jack’s mortal blood into the Blessing, it reset the instructions being broadcast again to its natural state of everyone being mortal.

NinjaGamer13 jack was always the same as anyone else except he physically couldn’t die because time would fracture because he was a fixed point and by having him become mortal it removes him being a fixed point in time which isn’t possible

@@mentoplayz8244 You're inventing a meaning for "fixed point" that was never actually supported by the show itself. Jack's immortality is never actually explained in either Doctor Who or Torchwood, as far as the physics of it goes. But if it truly were that he was just this immutable thing of spacetime, then that stands in direct conflict with how his immortality is depicted throughout the entire Whoniverse; he should not be able to age or change in any way, and he most definitely should not be able to die as the Face of Boe. So the most reasonable and consistent explanation for how his immortality works is that the time energy that Bad Wolf was clearly depicted as manipulating during the DW series 1 finale was infused into Jack's life force in some way, thus perpetuating his vitality and decelerating the aging process, but, being energy, still able to be used up over time. That fits Jack's increasingly quicker aging as time goes by (thanks to John Barrowman's real-life aging), the fact that he could use up the last of his life force and thus TRULY die as the Face of Boe later on, and Abaddon's sucking up so much of his life force that he died for an extended period of time after. None of those things should be possible in your interpretation. Plus, how else could Bad Wolf bring Jack back to life? "Making him a fixed point" isn't an explanation. Infusing his life force with time energy is. The explanation I am going by also, of course, fits just fine with the events of MD, while yours doesn't.
