Hell unleashed in Haiti: Gangs seize control

Күн бұрын

Haiti's very existence teeters on the brink as ruthless gangs tighten their grip on the capital, Port-au-Prince, and expand their footprint.
Despite being Haiti's closest neighbour and a significant regional power, the United States' response remains alarmingly tepid.
For months, Haiti has been engulfed in a relentless storm of political chaos and economic ruin.
Gang warfare has spiralled out of control, with citizens of Port-au-Prince held captive by fear and despair.
As the crisis escalates, a glimmer of hope emerges with the arrival of Kenyan authorities, hoping to bring order to the chaos.
Yet, Haiti's political elite remains entrenched in internal strife, corruption allegations, and power struggles, further thwarting efforts to stabilise the nation and reinstate democratic governance.
Further complicating efforts to stabilise the country and restore democratic governance.

I've heard this about Haiti for years. I don't think we need to babysit the entire world, at least not until we get our own house put right. The last thing we need are another million refugees from a warrior nation. This is scary. Im sorry for the families and children but if we keep it up - they'll just be unhappy and living in tents somewhere in middle America.

The entire population of Haiti is the size of Los Angeles. They are not a warrior nation. They are a people victimized by corruption, greed, and a history of slavery and imperialism. America has done little to nothing to truly help Haiti, and is responsible for a lot of the instability that plagues it today. Do more research and talk to some Haitians and you’ll see that they’re a great people who don’t deserve to suffer like they have.

Now on the serious side: Everyone wants the US to use its kinetic diplomacy to solve problems like Ukraine, Israel, Haiti, Afghanistan, Iraq... Sorry, but the American public is pulling the plug. If you want kinetic diplomacy then you supply the kinetic energy. Stop asking us to do it for you. It goes something like this: Pancho: Cisco, I have a problem. Cisco: Oh, Pancho, how lucky for you! I have five problems.
@rodguerp1

Haitians had shared their blood for the US independence and other wars, but the one that did not help the US gets all of the US help they don’t even need. Haiti shouldn’t be mistreated because they’re 95% black.
@darby5987
@darby5987 9 күн бұрын
@@rodguerp1 And I appreciate your reply. My response was limited to "kinetic diplomacy", the big stick side of Teddy Roosevelt's diplomatic philosophy of, "Speak softly but carry a big stick." The difference is that President Roosevelt was talking about US direct diplomacy involving strictly US interests where I am talking about the US involving itself as a proxy in foreign conflicts where the US has no true interest. For example: The Ukraine-Russia conflict. Ukraine isn't an historical US ally. At times the US and Ukraine have had common interests but they are not sufficient for the US to arm Ukraine. That war is between Kievan Rus (Kiev), Byelo Rus (Belorus) and Moscovy Rus (Moscow). It's a war that has been ongoing for over 800 years. If after 800 years they haven't solved their problem it is unreasonable to think that the US giving one side bigger and better weapons will lead to anything other than another 800 years of war...or 57 minutes of thermonuclear war. The US has no skin in this game. US kinetic diplomacy has no place in Eastern Europe. Eastern Europe along with Turkey should be leading the way to resolving the near millennium year old conflict.

The other closest neighbors are Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Turks & Caicos and The Bahamas - all closer neighbors to Haiti that the United States. Venezuela is closer to Haiti than Florida. We in the DR bear the brunt of massive and predatory illegal migration from Haiti which is neither friendly nor tolerant, not only too much wasted in them at the expense of Dominican taxpayers and taken away from the Dominican poor but also the significant expense of militarizing a porous common border where anything goes. It is NOT Dominicans' obligation to be saddled and strained to the point of conflict under the weight of Haitians' self made owes not to mention their historical visceral hate toward Dominicans and their failed scores of ethnically cleanse them in their own lands during the 19th century.
