Agreed, he was in two outstanding roles that he completely nailed. I never understood why he didn't get better roles. Here, it wasn't just his stunts that were great. He did a fantastic job acting through that heavy makeup.

It's actually my favorite moment in the scene done get me wrong the fight choreography is outstanding and the sequence in general is amazing. But it's all in the little moments that you see through hellboys bravato and you see his real character. Nuada would never stop drying to destroy the humans. To an extent he's right about them. And he's right about his kind dying the world loses something old and truly beautiful. Hellboy catches him tho because he to will never stop caring and try to rise about it all to be the hero. He's to good hearted. And in the end it's hellboys will to keep trying to over come the odds and save people because he still sees the good in them because he has Liz. The line from the first film always rings true to me. Where you come from doesn't define you. What you do does. Del Toro just gets the tiny moments that fill in the blanks and establish great character traits. Hellboys kind heart may be his downfall some day. But no matter he will always try even if he fails and that's so endearing.

Daniel This whole plan was also executed after years, and maybe even centuries after humanities truce. The Prince waited. He wanted to see if it was the right decision to ally with the humans. In the end, he saw the growth of humanity and their ignorance to something so sacred. He waited until he had no other options than to use the golden army. Throughout the movie we see how humans react to something as “unnatural” as Hellboy, and deep down we empathize with the Prince. Infact, I can argue the truce is voided because humanity has both forgotten its terms and has gone against it

His actions speak otherwise. How many Humans would he have killed in the vain attempt to reclaim what was lost? Humanity was advanced, arguably way more so than the Golden Army. Waging a war with all of Humanity with nothing more than swords and few metal mechs is obviously not a bright idea. Between a collapsing species and an ever advancing one, Humanity would have eventually found some way to fight back and would have done so. Plus we see the Prince is not above killing citizens, meaning that atrocities commited on his side would only have boosted Humanities spirit to fight against him. Allowing places like the United States (if presumably conquered and destroyed) to still rise up due to the large amount of citizens who own guns and would fight back against tyranny. The better option would have been to approach Humanity and request a new truce, or perhaps establish an alliance. Besides, Humanity had forgotten the truce and it's terms...

@@kamieaston3016 The movie states that there were 4900 soldiers in the Golden Army, so "a few" is a bit of an understatement. It also shows that they are essentially indestructible, capable of repairing and reassembling themselves from any damage. The one potential option I can think of would be to nuke them, but that comes with its own set of problems, and based on what we see in the movie I'm not sure it would be enough.

It wasn't that good, the few brief fight scenes are okay. To some degree it was an interesting premise, but the execution was not that good. It has several plot holes or characterd inconsistencies that kind of drove the movie. At least from me one thing I didn't really get was the villain's motivation was that magical creatures were dying and humans had taken too much control so he would send the last of certain creatures to fight the heroes not exactly expecting them to win, which to me kind of defeats his own purpose. I mean there was a lot of Orcs And trolls still left so why not send them instead of the last earth Elemental? Not to mention that the sister could have ended the conflict at any time by basically incapacitating herself which she has no issue doing here so why didn't she do it earlier she was even ok with her father sentencing the brother and by their connection her to death, hell she could have done a method where she could have been revived like drowning or asphyxiation if she didn't want to die for good. Why did the Golden Army stop fighting when Hellboy issued a challenge and why did the prince accept it. things like that just either needed more explanation or they should have done things a different way.

In Nuala’s case, she’d been protected her whole life because if she died it would mean her brother’s death as well. She’d been raised to be obedient to her father and king - someone she watched die at the hands of her own brother. Her father’s plan of having the remainder of their people retreat into hiding was a fine plan - they were outnumbered and dying out, all they needed was to choose a place away from humans. Nuada craved power and respect far beyond his means and Nuala didn’t want to watch what little remained of her people and family die. Unfortunately she was bound to her brother mentally and physically, so the only way to stop him was to be stopped herself

Lmao her sacrifice is easily one of the biggest and dumbest movie plot holes ever. She literally knew her death was tied to his since the beginning when their father sentenced him to death and he asked her if she was at peace with that decision. She calmly said she was yet she let the entire movie play out instead of just ending it there before he killed the royal guards and their father and countless other people and beings. What exactly was the point of her waiting after she made it clear she’d be ok with dying to stop him from causing so much death and chaos?

You know what else? Abe probably didn't have any reason to cry until this point. Those words represents his character more then anything. He did not grieve for his life but for something beautifull that will be lost forever, a proud legacy of the world that was. Considering hellboy has fought with blades plenty of times and he has seen how fast and skilled the prince was, it's safe to say he knew none of his attacks would actually have killed him cause the lethal ones wouldnt have landed. As most were easy to see coming and the only time he hits the prince is when he cuts his arm while the prince is busy being flashy. Hellboy may be ok at his smarts but he knows how to read the area and his opponents, look at his fight with wink. He shot winks hand to stop him from hitting blue and didnt shoot him in the head cause he didnt want to kill wink, he then let wink kill himself after hellboy was done with the fight for his Cuban cigar, he even tells wink to not attack anymore (cause of the grinder) but wink does anyway despite hellboy warning. So he knew none of the fatal swings would connect

Nuada is extremely skillful and dangerous. HellBoy knows.
