If you had the choice between a Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a C8 Corvette, which should you buy and why? Today I do a comparison between between a Dodge Challenger Hellcat Widebody and a Chevrolet C8 Corvette. I discuss the exterior, interior, technology, safety features, performance, practicality, and my real life experience driving the two. Challangers are cool but they make a v6 version of them , h03s can't tell a difference between a cat and v6 but if you pull up in a vette 😮

Great video, I like both cars but I'm always partial to Corvettes. I like the jet-like cockpit, the great handling and acceleration, and the styling. Speaking of which, I think your C8 would look much better without that hood wrap. But to each his own!

C8 all day. With mag ride and gt2 seats, it's very comfortable. I drive over 500 miles multiple times a year with no issues in sports mode. Put it on tour and it's even more comfortable but I prefer the stiffer ride.

I own both these cars. The vette is just amazing and man does it attract all the attention. It beats the hellcat in most speed test except for higher speed rolls to higher end speeds (like say 60-150). However driving the Hellcat makes you giggle like a high school teenager all over again with its raw power and lively rear end. I love em both equally and if I could only have one weekend fun car it would be the C8, but if I had to choose one for a daily driver, I'd take the hellcat as it sits up higher and easier to see around in traffic, the seats are a little nicer plus you got more storage area.

@@b0ld651unless you have a c8 n can back that up youre wrong. ive had both cars c8 tops out at 195 hellcat goes to 210 . sure the c8 can take corners but you soy boys fail to realize that how many times are you doing tracking or canyon runs in person lmfao most of yall race in a straight line so who cares about cornering the c8 will go from dig but the cat will catch up n walk it easy. z06 is a lil different.

I’ve own a scatpack and now own a C8 and love it. I know I never owned a HellCat but the C8 is hard to beat for the price. If anyone here is thinking about getting one. Do it you won’t regret it

Prices aren’t that different. I’ve got a camaro SS m6 & a Challenger hellcat. I got my cat used, only had 6k miles though. If I get another sports car, it’s definitely gonna be a c8. Is your Scat your daily driver?

I got my 23’ c8 2 months ago. Incredible car, it’s pretty fast, drives like you’re floating on air and the looks you get driving that car around is hilarious. Very happy with my purchase. My only complaint about the c8 is it’s very very very quiet. You have to get headers, cats and an aftermarket exhaust imo.

Yeah that’s gonna be my gripe, cause the 2nd mod I do on my cars is cut off resonators & rear mufflers, I never do headers or mess with da cats. Respect to the Hellcat but let's be honest...Chargers and Challengers are literally EVERYWHERE. I can go to any high school parking lot and find 10 of them From an exclusivity standpoint, I'd take the C8 in a heartbeat.

Good video, but as someone that has owned a loaded Non-Hellcat Challenger and now owns a C8 3LT Z51. You missed several items in your comparison. On the technology side, you have a Heads up display on the Vette, and I don't think you can even get that on the Challenger, also you can customize your steering weight, brake feel, and how aggressively the transmission shifts via customized "My mode" or "Z mode for the Z51". On the suspension, you can equip the Vette with Magnetic Ride, which in tour mode is extremally smooth riding I don't believe you can get Mag Ride on the Challenger. Also, when mentioning sound, you can get an upgraded exhaust from the factory with the Vette, which is quite a bit louder. Last point; the Challenger is more of a one-trick pony. It's extremely fast in a straight line like drag strips, but when you go canyon carving or playing on a race track, the Vette will smoke the Challenger something terrible. I love both vehicles, and I'm glad the Challenger is around, it is one hell of a ride. This was just my observation...

The reviewer drove a base C8 and doesn’t realize how much better the higher optioned cars are. Get the Z51 package with adjustable suspension, adjustable exhaust and a spoiler, add a 2LT package and get heads up display, built in video recorder that adds In your performance times are more unique features. The tech in the vette blows the hellcat out of the water. There really isn’t even a fair comparison between the two unless you take the base vette vs a optioned up hellcat. Being a topless car is also really nice, something Mopar doesnt offer. You can tell all the reviewer cares about is smoking tires lol. C8 is the easy choice unless you aren’t very flexible to get in or out of one.

Was thinking the same thing as I watched this. Especially when he was talking about the exhaust. "Let's compare my upgraded aftermarket exhaust to the the C8's stock exhaust stuck in quiet mode.. hmm.. the Hellcat sounds better." lol ya think? Though I will say they Hellcat is probably still a little louder if you are comparing stock to stock, in this case it was a pointless demo. The tech in the C8 is lightyears ahead of the Cat. The C8 also weighs between 1000 - 1600 lbs less than the Cat which closes a lot of the gap in their HP difference and helps further explain the C8 better 0-60.

Just an FYI, my Hellcat does have adjustable suspension from the factory. I like both cars and realize they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I’m not bias either way. I’ve had vettes and hellcats and am just happy you can purchase whichever you want.

These two cars art really comparable. One has a back seat and the other dormant. One is a sports car and the other a muscle car. One is HUGE and comfort based and the other is a mid engine Super Car. I'll say this. ITs several other cars that can legitimately compete with the C8: 911, McLaren, etc. But the Hellcat only has one competitor that's in its class and that would be the Mustang SS.

@@crunchycrackers7364 that vette is the base car it doesn’t have the npp performance exhaust on it so it’s going to be quieter than one with the Z51 package that includes the performance exhaust. No spoiler on back is a dead give away it’s no Z51 package, however performance exhaust can still be optioned but I doubt this one has it as it looks plain Jane.

I have owned a 2014 Charger RT Blacktop, 2017 Charger SRT 392 and now a 2022 Charger Hellcat Widebody Black Edition. The 392 was actually a better driving car and more fun to drive. The power of the hellcat is pretty much wasted. Anything under about 80mph is almost nothing but wheel spin if you get on it. I ordered a C8 3LT Z51 convert and waiting for it to arrive. The pricing was about $88k on the Hellcat new and the C8 was just at $100k. The Hellcat Charger is nothing but attention anywhere I go and its almost scary because everyone comes up to me and the cops trail and follow you all the time. I have cop neighbors and they do it mainly because Charger owners do a lot of moronic stuff but also these cars are stolen non-stop.

Yup, exactly. One of the deciding factors for me getting the C8 over the Cat was that it DIDN'T have a back seat. I don't want more people in my car. I don't ever want to feel like I am in a family car. I want every aspect of it to remind me that I am in a purpose built sports car when I take it out.

The C8 with Mag Ride has an incredible ride in Tour setting. Even in Track Mode, the suspension has some compliance, making it comfortable over all but the worst roads.

Before the C8 was released, other than a BMW 7 Series, Audi S7, or Jaguar F-Type, I always wanted one of the muscle-car-era style revival cars such as a Challenger Hellcat or new Camaro. Corvette was not on my radar at all. I still like the Hellcat and Camaros, but it is unlikely I'll ever purchase one of those at this point after going with the hard-top convertible (HTC) C8. Even if I otherwise liked the Hellcat and C8 equally, for me, the deciding factor would be the availability of the HTC. The vehicle that now holds the top spot on the list of vehicles I want to buy but to not yet own is the new Bronco (with removable hard top). There just does not seem to be any of the Bronco revival models available that I can find which are inexpensive enough for me to afford right now as an additional vehicle. But, in a few years, there will certainly be more Bronco revival models available with higher mileage and with older model release dates.

Good video. I am adding a C8 Z06, (my order is in at Macmulkin already) to my 21 indigo Charger Redeye. 670 hp vs 797 hp but I'm sure the Z06 will be faster in about every metric. One would hope so for the 159k msrp of mine. Rapid blue, htc, 3lz, ccb, carbon aero, and some other goodies. Can't wait. The redeye is still a blast to drive though. If one couldn't get both of these amazing cars, a GT500 would be a fantastic alternative for less money than either of them.

I hate to say it, but the Vette with Mag ride and GT2 seats is an amazingly comfortable car. My wife and I just came off of a 500-mile day trip and it was amazing. He just decided not the mention those options in his video.

I drove many sports cars, for example, Lamborghini, Ferrari, corvette, Mazerati Grand Turismo, which one I own and many others, no even one of those have any comfort of soft driving like hellcan does. I'm considering buying McLaren, but I'm sure in advance it will not be comfortable either. Sport cars created for speed and light wight. It's opposite and far away from comfort.

Not a good comparison.. you’d be crazy to choose a c8 over a Hellcat. I would even choose a c7 z06 over a Hellcat . Love hellcats too though.

My apologies, but Chevy really went sideways with the C8 and made it into a wannabe Euro supercar - which it clearly is not. Such a shame too cuz the C7 was a really popular ride which they very easily could've (and should've) revamped into a killer car. Instead they chose some European prototype which bears no real semblance to American muscle at all. My advice, get a Hellcat and own a real piece of American muscle car history. Just my $0.02

2LT w/Z51 package and you are all set for cruising and track. And you have traction at 30 when you floor it? Come on man😂. . DCT from 30 to 70 will beat your Dodge. By the time you downshift the corvette would have shifted twice. Also gas mileage is way worse on the Dodge and calling it a GT car is funny. But. I did like you comparison even though it’s really not in the same class. Also. I have a 2020 Ram 1500 and I am no way hating on the Hellcat. I fuking love them.

I am team C8 but I have to disagree with you on the 30-70. If you are not an idiot, you can easily keep traction in the Cat and then rely on raw HP for acceleration once you have them up to speed. The faster you are going when you start, the better the Cat fares in a race. Most Cat drivers won't race from a dig because they know they are barely going to move while their tires smoke while the C8 launches like chetah. But they LOVE to do rolling races on straight roads because it eliminates all their disadvantages.

@@xbeaker I still disagree. 30 Mph in a Hellcat will be 1st gear. Blows tires off. 2nd gear floor it. Burn tires off or ease into to not spin and Corvette is gone. Start at 50 and it would be different. But not 30.

Terrible analysis. C8 all day. Hellcat is bulky and ugly. It's like comparing the Hulk to Iron Man. Most people who choose the Hellcat can't afford the C8.
