Legally Blonde Movie Description:
Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) has it all. She wants nothing more than to be Mrs. Warner Huntington III. But there is one thing stopping him (Matthew Davis) from proposing: She is too blond. Elle rallies all of her resources and gets into Harvard, determined to win him back.
Legally Blonde is a 2001 American comedy film directed by Robert Luketic in his feature-length directorial debut. Written by Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith from Amanda Brown's 2001 novel of the same name, it stars Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, and Jennifer Coolidge. Witherspoon plays Elle Woods, a sorority girl who attempts to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III by getting a Juris Doctor degree at Harvard Law School, and in the process, overcomes stereotypes against blondes and triumphs as a successful lawyer through unflappable self-confidence and fashion/beauty knowhow.
The outline of Legally Blonde originated from Brown's experiences as a blonde going to Stanford Law School while being obsessed with fashion and beauty, reading Elle magazine, and frequently clashing with the personalities of her peers. In 2000, Brown met producer Marc Platt, who helped her develop her manuscript into a novel. Platt brought in screenwriters McCullah Lutz and Smith to adapt the book into a motion picture. The project caught the attention of director Luketic, an Australian newcomer who came to Hollywood on the success of his quirky debut short film Titsiana Booberini. "I had been reading scripts for two years, not finding anything I could put my own personal mark on, until Legally Blonde came around," Luketic said.
The film was released on July 13, 2001, and was a hit with audiences, grossing $141 million worldwide on an $18 million budget, as well as receiving moderately positive reviews from critics, with particular praise going to Witherspoon's performance. It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture: Musical or Comedy. Witherspoon received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, and the 2002 MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance.
The box office success led to a series of films: a 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, and a 2009 direct-to-DVD spin-off, Legally Blondes. Additionally, Legally Blonde: The Musical premiered on January 23, 2007, in San Francisco and opened in New York City at the Palace Theatre on Broadway on April 29, 2007, starring Laura Bell Bundy.
In May 2020, it was announced that Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor were signed to write a third film.

@@iciajay6891 I wouldn't say pointing out current trends means that someone hates themselves or even thinks they're being victimized. Claiming that someone thinks they're a victim when they're pointing out a trend is ALSO a trend I've noticed. And they aren't incorrect, considering that most remakes have been using minorities to fit some kind of quota rather than creating new stories with those minorities in mind; instead Hollywood has just swapping out colors or sexual orientations - I'd personally love to see more movies or tv shows that aren't just swapped out remakes for "look how inclusive we're being!" points and more new drama/horror/scifi/fantasy with those minorities in mind. Being part of the LGBTQ community, I personally dislike when they simply remake a character with my sexual preference and the reason the character exists is entirely just to BE that sexual preference so a box can be checked. I personally feel the same way with quotas in the job market and education as well. Society has been moving away from caring about the content of someones character and more to caring about the color of ones skin or sexual preferences. People are perfectly able to disagree with someone without projecting feelings on to the other person. They simply made a comment and you added that they hate themselves, are mad at the world and think they're a victim. I've also noticed that a lot of people seem to think certain groups of people (politically and racially) somehow *can't* ever be victims or be victimized, which is eventually going to lead down a bad path.

We can’t always tell which men are dangerous like that cause… y’know… they mimic good guys. That’s why we gotta be careful of everyone initially. THIS. I've dodge several bullets in life, in regards to men that just give off bad vibes or try and use their positions of power to sway you. There was one, only one that was absolutely terrifying because I didn't see it coming and it blindsided me completely. I worked with him closely for three years and never once was he anything but respectful, kind and normal towards me. Not even a friendly flirt in passing in a span of three years. Nothing. Then we were alone one day at work and he made his "move" and began physically touching me out of nowhere. I've never been so shocked, paralyzed and fearful in my life. Even after it happened and looking back, I STILL can not find one single sign or hint of warning. That fact still gives me chills to this day. (I contacted HR to report the incident and effectively quit when they basically said it was my word vs his)

Actually Reese Witherspoon was the second choice for Elle. The casting director originally wanted Christina Applegate to play the star role due to her work as Kelly on Married with Children (goated show). However, for that same exact reason she turned the role down for fear of being typecast as 'the dumb blonde' she later mentions this in an interview as one of her regrets for passing it up because Elle really pushed Reese Witherspoon into the mainstream audience and elevated her career.

This movie was honestly pivotal for me. I only watched it for the first time a couple years ago. I had just lost a bunch of "friends" partially because they weren't great friends, but I also feel that I pushed them away by being a judgy jerk, simply because our tastes differed. I grew up looking down on girls like Elle, and judging girly blondes as dumb and inferior to me. This film shocked me and was a huge wake up call for my own personal problems. It taught me that tastes don't really matter, or determine the worth of a person. I needed to hear that.

Six months would be the minimum amount of time I would recommend between perms. The process breaks down peptide bonds and then rebuilds them in the shape of a curl. Hair grows on average half an inch every month--meanwhile, the perm process includes all hair, so double and triple processing long hair in a perm will damage times double and triple. As always, your reactions are both hilarious and insightful. Uh uh Uh got me in stitches.

I LOVE this movie! Elle Woods is a fantastic character and Reese played her so well! Within the first 5 minutes of the movie, it's established that Elle has fallen into her stereotype of "pretty, dumb, blonde", but it also showed how intelligent she is in her knowledge of clothing/hair/make-up and her ability to trap people in their own lies (when she got the store clerk to admit that she was trying to pull a fast one on a supposed dumb blonde). Its sad that people often overlook this movie for the important feminist story it is, simply because it stars a rich, white, blonde bombshell. The movie's message was just proven even more with that kind of reaction to it based on face value.

This was so hilarious lmao. As to your question, I'm from New Zealand so I love our wines, I live near several wineries. I prefet Pinot Gris (white) for general drinking, cold as ice. If I have a steak though or am eating chocolate I'll go with a red. If you like Rosé, which is lighter, you might like the red dessert wine Syrrah. My favourite dessert wine though is Port. Also if you want to take the edge off a newly opened bottle of red, make sure to aerate it a little, basically leave it to breathe and get air in it. Some people actually put it in a blender and then back in the bottle lmao.

Cruel intentions is another good one with Reese Witherspoon her husband at the time now ex husband played her love interest in it and Selma Blair who plays Vivian in this movie another great movie Reese Witherspoon plays in is walk the line as June Carter cash

Now that you say it Mel, once I knew they were brothers I immediately recognized the similarity in demeanor between Owen and Luke Wilson. You can especially tell in the laid-back way they speak and their voices. But what I recently noticed about my own perception is that I never noticed Owen Wilson has a crooked nose until Loki, like 20 years since I had been watching him star in movies (since Zoolander I think). Take that as a lesson, all you self-conscience actors and performers; don't change your appearance for a preconceived notion of beauty. Character makes you attractive

I'm wholeheartedly convinced that the early 2000s had the best rom coms and comedies. Some of my favorites are Legally Blonde (ofc), Mean Girls, 13 Going on 30 and more. A lot of them had a perfect balance between comedy while also spreading a good message that in some cases was ahead of its time. Especially with this movie, having this message that a woman is more than just her looks and can achieve great things on her own was somewhat ahead of its time when it came out. If you were a beautiful girl that followed all the trends and looked like you were from the valley, everyone thought you were a stupid, spoiled rich girl of sorts. Unfortunately this message still holds up in modern day too. There's still plenty of people and men out there who will read a book by its cover and don't believe beautiful women will achieve much or assume they slept their way to the top of wherever they're at.

Talking about washing hair, I had a roommate during the pandemic who I had moved in with because I was homeless, we shared a room in a Flat, I would wash his hair for him and I loved the connection it formed. It was real trust. He would bath me too and it was just so lovely and although it sounds very sexual, there was none of that, it was just care and that makes you feel very special. Especially when you’re really down and can’t be bothered or feel any need to do personal care. Having someone care enough to do it for you and take they burden themselves really means the world.

6:44 I'd just like to say that that mindset of Warner's is extremely offensive to both Jackie Kennedy Onassis and to Marilyn Monroe. He's classifying Marilyn as some dumb blonde that's there for you to have an affair with (and for the record she was not the only affair JFK had) and Jackie as the proper looking wife that looks good on your arm. Both Marilyn and Jackie were stylish and well-read women who were much smarter than people give them credit for and who had a personal look and style that we still recognise today. They both went through emotionally devastating times and were much more than a 'dumb blonde' and the 'brunette wife'. There's a reason why their deaths made the news and why everyone was crying when they died, and a reason why we still talk about them. And for the record, Warner must have a pretty high opinion of himself if he thinks he could have had a chance with either - he's many things but he's no JFK, or RFK either. The Kennedy's weren't a 'the third' families, they came over in the mid 1800s and the one who emigrated was a barrel maker before his kids went into business and politics. JFK (I think) was the first Catholic to be elected president at a time when you'd see 'help wanted' signs in shops that also said stuff like 'jews and catholics need not apply' since they were seen as 'white but not really white'. Also, Vivian is hardly what I'd call a Jackie. The hair is similar yes, but the thing about Jackie was that she was known for being stylish and classy - as in upper class but doesn't make people feel inferior to her when she talks to them. Vivian's clothes and accent say upper class but are hardly stylish and I'd hardly call her behaviour for the first half of the movie classy. I still don't get how she assumed Elle was sleeping with Callaghan for the position, she saw her sitting there and saw him put his hand on her leg, and why would she leave less than five minutes later if that was the case?

I've really loved watching your reactions man, it's awesome how much you love watching the movies and you seem to do so the right way. I feel so many people nowadays can't just watch a movie and try and enjoy it... They have to hate on it or judge it.... They just over think it so hard; it takes all the magic and fun out of it. You give an honest opinion without being mean or cynical, I appreciate that. I'm a huge movie/tv buff and I just want to enjoy the experience of watching a story acted out in front of me. If it turns out it wasn't my jam, that's okay. It doesn't mean it sucks... Also I like how much you compliment women; it always sounds sweet and genuine to me, and in today's world where some people can't even properly define a woman, it's nice to see femininity being admired and appreciated. I find myself laughing so hard at these reactions, and then agreeing with your points of view pretty often sometimes you almost literally take the words out my mouth lol.
