Was a ski racer here in the US back in the 70s, this video just blows me away. I honestly didn't believe it would be possible to go much faster then what we were doing back then. 135? I would never have believed it, even on water that smooth.

I’m still in awe at the speed this boat can achieve while having the drag of two slalom skiers behind it. Says a great deal about Force Boats. I’ve owned an Allison Grand Sport, (Merc 260) which achieved 105 mph, both on the trailer and in the water, according to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Dept, and the Lake County Coast Guard. 😂 Great video... again!

Absolutely BRILLIANT - a well oiled Team. I thought back in the very late 70's early 80's when 100 - 105 mph was TOP SHELF that I would never see a flash of 138 - 139 MPH - just BRILLIANT - FAULTLESS and you Guys deserve the Record after that fine effort.

The Hell team remind me of Peter Brock and the HDT during the 70's, they win everything, just a well oiled machine, so reliable and fast. When will the other teams lift their game and seriously challenge? Wish they wouldn't use GoPro's though, no good for this type of footage the skiers are way, way too far away.

Nudgee, the ski ropes for the faster classes normally abt 260-280 ft at the start , and abt 310-330ft at the finish. The ropes stretch easy because the heat from the engine block and exhaust gets blown back onto the ropes and softens the nylon, making it stretch easier ...

wipe out on skis at 137 mph would be fatal. Concrete would be softer to crash & skip across at that speed.

I've got a mate who used to race in this, and had an accident at around 110mph practising, he has permanently lost all movement and feeling in one arm from the shoulder down from the crash . Commonly known in Australia amoungst the water ski racing community as "Skiers Arm".

Amazing beyond words the acceleration and top speed on tis boat is beyond words they have to be pushing 1000 HP and then to of all things be skiing behind this monster, it takes a whold lot of something I havent got! I have a Donzi with a blown 502 in it and I start to get shaky driving it at 95 mph, I dont want to go any faster! There are no words for this?
@mjmmcewin2 жыл бұрын
Karl this boat and a few others in class are pushing 1800hp. Since this video a speed restriction has been introduced with this class now capped at 120mph.
@karlk68602 жыл бұрын
@@mjmmcewin WOW I knew it had to good HP but never dreamed it was that high. Mighty impressive to say the least. I am not surprised at all that they have set limits to the speed I can't say I agree but if not someone would get killed. Thanks much for the info heck of an interesting sport.
