Stolas, in actual mythos, is a demon prince who specializes in astronomy and horticulture. Thus, all the plants in his house and the star themes scattered throughout his home makes even more sense.

I just love the huge flex Stolas has in the beginning... That wasn't an illusion, he opened a portal to an actual dying solar system just to have a backdrop for the lullaby he was singing to his daughter...

This episode definitely gave a me "I did not consent to these feels" moment when I first saw it. It totally caught me off guard with how touching it was

Loona only has one line in this entire episode and she pulled it off absolutely flawlessly. I feel that every day of my life when people come over.

Can I just say that Blitzo answering "No, but I'm really good with guns now" to a question if anybody loves him is a quintessential late millenial/early gen z experience: downplaying your own trauma with morbid half-jokes

Despite missing the target when playing the game, Millie has no problem shooting that one guy who was literally right next to Stolas' face As Moxxie talks about how expensive those novelty cups are, we see an imp rolling in a wheelbarrow full of cash and Blitzo drinking from a novelty cup he never uses again (that there is what we call a visual joke) It's implied Moxxie and Millie are smaller than the average imp, and there is a theory on it based on a line we hear in episode 5.

Don’t worry next episode has a lot more of Loona, the dragon ate Robo Fizz in the background, some weird looking rat drags Millie away also in the future episodes you can see references to previous ones

Stolas: "You know what i haven't done in a long long time...?" Octavia: "..Your wife?". Missed opportunity here 😋

Fun fact, “We’re rich and we’re hot,” is Stolas’s voice actor’s favorite line in the show so far.

Some things to note about this episode. 1. In the beginning, Stolas' wife keeps bringing up how he was sleeping with an Imp, like a plebian. This marital strife between them appears to be entirely about status and image. They're nobility and Imps are almost the lowest of the low in the caste system of Hell, only Hellhounds such as Loona are even lower. It appears that Stella is just embarrassed that he slept with an Imp, adultery itself really isn't an issue, just that it was an Imp. 2. Considering some details in later episodes, there is a good reason to suspect that during the first song of this episode, Stolas actually warped him and Octavia into a solar system about to blow up. It was not a hologram or a projection, they were actually there, which is why Stolas brought them back just before the explosion reached them. 3. The higher in the caste system you are in Hell, the higher your potential is for having and using powers. As Stolas is a literal prince of Hell and part of a caste at the very upper echelons of Hell's caste systems, he is a significant force in the realm. This explains why he's so nonchalant about everything and only gets more serious when the low-life imps really start to impede his chase after Octavia. 4. The quote "Where is Blitz? He's my knight in shining armour, not you little'er ones." is also quite a telling quote about the hierarchy of Hell. This is definitively something to keep in mind going forward.

I still can't get over to the "no copyright infringement ever seen" joke. Not only Loo Loo Land was shamelessly copied from Lu Lu World but after saying that, Robo-Fizzarolli proceeded to sang to a portion of Charlie's song hence Octavia's expression (In Hazbin Hotel, Charlie sang a song while on live in television because of [spoilers]. Robo-Fiz then shamelessly copied a part from it.) Edit: From what I heard through fan discussions, unlike Hazbin Hotel that was decided to be a plot driven story, Helluva Boss was created to be episodic with small plots connecting to each other. This is the reason why the first few episodes would feel like a stand alone episodes at first until you watched more and realized what their connection to each other are. Another info I also heard that since Hazbin Hotel was all about change and redemption, Vivziepop in turn decided to create this spin-off series Helluva Boss in order to show what is already in hell.

So cool thing about Stolas is that he’s actually based on a real demon in theology (religious mythology) he’s described as a owl with very long legs who has a interest in astrology and plantlife. As the show continues you’ll also see more demons based on theology, primarily the higher ranking ones.

Still love the attention to detail by making Stolas's bunny slippers squeak when he walks

Can we appreciate the layers of writing where in the middle of their Loo Loo land song (about avoiding intentional copyright infringement, set to not quite the Spiderman theme) the robot (who is property of the devil of covetousness, Mammon) then rips off the opening lines, piano, and poses, from the in-universe song Inside of Every Demon is a Rainbow from Hazbin Hotel.

Also, that Stolas' It Will Be Okay is essentially his Wubba Lubba Dub Dub. Telling us that even years ago the single source of meaning in his life is his daughter, and even she is fine without him. Distracting every statement about his despair with the beautifully melancholy melody so that all that she hears is that he loves her and she will be Okay.

Who could’ve ever expected the pervy owl from the pilot and ep1 to be a top tier dad? 😂

The show overall is definitely more of a character/story driven show than the pilot and first episode led to believe. Which is what made me go from enjoying the show to falling in love with it. Excited for you guys to see the rest of the episodes.

This episode hit home with the song that was so beautiful and sweet. As the singer/VA of Stolas announced that he sang that song to his daughter for comfort. Also the voice of Robo Fizz is played by the actor who done Broadway musical of BeetleJuice. With that said, did you two spot in the background at Blitz’s office with a eye in the jar? It’s Martha’s eye in the jar, and there is a Waldo Imp at the sky shot view with LuLu the apple mascot, with them waving at the camera. So next episode is going to be big and more Loona action with a “Surprising moment” of a power she carry and a voice appearance of a “iconic” set of VAs coming your way with it great till another one comes in later episodes.

Stolas and Stella was an arranged marriage, she's not so much hurt that he cheated on her but that he's fraternizing with an Imp, the lowest class of Demon in Hell.

It just keeps getting better. The music in these are phenomenal.

Helluva Boss Series just never gets old, these are still one of the best animated videos in the KZfaq.

Considering the most recent episode that came out, the fact that Octavia said "You ruined it" actually showed how good a job Stolas did hiding his marriage problems and made Octavia's happiness the number one priority because he definitely was not the one to ruin it.

In case no one has pointed it out yet one of the reasons you might get "tim burton vibes" from the loo loo land song is because robo-fizzarolli is voiced by Alex Brightman who currently plays beetlejuice on broadway and even used the same voice

If I had kids of my own one day, this is the kind of song I'd sing to them. Not a song that says life is without struggles, but one that offers comfort, even in the worst of situations, they'd be OK in the end. And if I was dead at that point, then I'd still be with them; in memory and in spirit, so they would never feel left alone.

But this is one of my favorite jokes in the show, shows connection between Blitz and Octavia even when she doesn't like him, and the cutes between it. Brilliant. Here in germany we have a exclusive unique Themepark called "Phantasia Land" but it has more fun rights, rollercoaster and horrorcastles and such, we visited it a lot, even with school one time, thats were i got my hand broken. A bar didn't go up right when I was trying to get out of a unit and I kept going, but my hand stayed there and when I thought I was just stuck with my sleeve, i turned a round and "crack" .... thats were the good old times, great vacation time

Seeing your faces react to the sudden change after the intro song, the heart jerking discussion between father and daughter towards the end, all of it was great to see y'all get into it! This is a Rollercoaster of a show with amazing lore and I cannot wait to see where it goes from here! It is too bad Hazbin Hotel couldn't be supported the same way. BUY THEIR MERCH! One thing I took from this episode was the fact that stolas is strictly gay due to his lines while talking to Octavia since every chokes up on the line "we weren't in" which means it was an arranged marriage he had no choice to marry stella

Loo Loo Land is my favorite episode. Octavia is one of my favorite characters

So I know I'm over a day late but life got in the way, but I still feel like I need to share some of my thoughts on this as well. So one of the things that always struck me with this episode is that the basic idea behind this episode focusing on showing that Stolas is married and has a kid while still being queer is something I never gave much thought to before getting more involved in the LGBTQ+ spheres (I'm trans) but that is actually a thing that happened, for a long time before being gay was more "accepted" it wouldn't be to uncommon for gay people to get married and have kids while essentially living a fake life, it's shown very well in this episode. We can very clearly see that Stolas cares a lot for his daughter Octavia to the point where he seems to have a hard time accepting that kids grow older and their tastes and personalities change. Now it's very obvious that this change for Stolas doesn't happen over night after meeting Blitz, during his song number he says things like "I used to think love would be fun" which either hints at the fact that he was excited to get married or at the fact that since he got married he now has a sorta poisoned view of what love is hence the "I USED to think". We can also gleam a lot of things from the way his wife Stella puts weight on certain words, she doesn't seem to be annoyed that Stolas cheated but more that he cheated with an imp which is a lower class of demon, much lower than Stolas as he is a prince of hell. Now the thing I feel is that in the fun house at the end both Octavia and Stolas has good points to their personal views on the issue at hand, Octavia says things like "You ruined it" showing that she seems to have been happy with her life until all of this happened and that is of course understandable, I don't think there is a single scenario ever where a child wouldn't feel upset at their parents shouting at each other all the time. On the other hand Stolas shows just how he feels by the fact that he actually can't put into words how he feels about his and Stella's marriage. And in that sense both Octavia and Stolas are in the right and at the same time I don't know if any of them are in the right. It all comes down to the way the matter is being handled. This is exactly why I love this show it's not afraid to show how a person might not always be what they seem. Stolas in the pilot and first episode is shown as crass and vulgar to the point of it being played for shock laughs, but now we can actually see that Stolas acts this way because he is overcompensating for the years he spent having to pretend to be someone he isn't. The last things I wanna say about this whole matter is that this show gets deep, and that is why I love it. There has never been a show that has made me think this much about fictional characters before. Whenever an episode releases I spend weeks upon weeks thinking about them, theorising to myself about them, going back over them looking into stuff. I guess some would call it obsessive I prefer the term hyper fixated. And while such things are rarely a good thing I do prefer it to the alternative of feeling bored and depressed all the time. This show came into my life at an important time and I am so glad it did, and I just love seeing other peoples thoughts and reactions to it.

I'm just now noticing with you two, the "Loo-Loo Guy" in the poisoned apple costume..that this is an apple...like the forbidden apple that Lucifer as a snake, gave to Eve. The appletheme goes on.. Great first 10 seconds 😅 Kissed by the sillies, in germany we say "Did you had clown for breakfast?" Love stupid jokes. The build up in this episode is really important, Blitz definitley have a dark past that has to do with the circus, as well as with Fizzeroli. "Does anybody loves you? Blitzo?!" that hurts, if you know all the details, but believe me, this show had much more to offer. And the Songs in it are Disney worthy but without the cringe. Funfact: Loo Loo Land takes place in the "Ring of Greed" ruled by Mammon. (Mammon is a term borrowed from Aramaic, originally meaning "possession" or "wealth". The word is used in the Bible by Jesus and thereby receives a rather negative interpretation. Today, the term is used disparagingly to refer to money in general ("filthy lucre"). ) fits perfectly don't you think?
