This was originally a fanmade song, Vivienne liked it so much she decided to make it canon in the show.

I'm worried Blitz will take this the wrong way. Stolas is trying to prove his love by giving him the choice to stay with him, no strings attached, or to let him free, where he never has to bother with Stolas getting the book back. But Blitz is damaged. Everyone one he ever cared about has left him in the past. Blitzy could see this gift as being left again.

Stolas' relationship with Blitz is all about consent, or lack thereof. At first Stolas used the book to bind Blitz to him, but while it ensured Stolas would have a permanent contact with Blitz with it, it also ensured that Blitz would never be able to approach Stolas as an equal, even if you ignore Stolas' status as Nobility. Stolas understood that he would not be able to have Blitz as an equal partner if he doesn't first free him from the contract Stolas had preciously set up between them. That contract acted more like a stick than a rope, holding Blitz in Stolas' orbit, but never allowing the relationship to truly get closer either.

Lot of symbolism here, like the red string of fate, the sun being the giver and the moon being the receiver, Stolas being the water always trying to reach the moon but can never touch it. God they did amazing to explain so much on how they feel.

4:09 when the light litteraly leaves his Eyes...damn that hurts, no matter how many times i see it. Stolas gave us the essence of "unrequired Love" in song form (if it ends up like that, anyway). Blitzo is a textbook self-sabotager, telling himself that everybody leaves in the end anyway so he can push them away without issue...I hope that this gesture of freedom isn't understood as a willing distance by Stolas or any reconciliation is going to be a huge hurdle for them

Stolas has made up his mind to give him the crystal (as he says in the song he has to give him the choice) but he's terrified that Blitz will leave.

A thing once broken but still cherished shows its history. Its weakest points reinforced and guarded, the slightest hint of damage instills panic. A person with a broken and damaged heart defends what little they feel they have left while hating that it means so much to them.

Besides the wonderful animation and beautiful song.. storywise...The plot wasn't supposed to turn into a romance but it just happened and I'm glad it did..but I'm afraid it won't end well for Stolas..but..who knows.

Thank you for your reaction video. You are so right on the money with your discussion about school, bullying and the walls we build around ourselves during that time for emotional survival. This is so absolutely correct. School age children can be the most toxic environment imaginable, especially if you are emotionally sensitive which makes you vulnerable, and school age children sense this, sometimes even family, and they use vulnerability and sensitivity against you, as a weapon used to cause hurt and damage. The walls we build to protect ourselves can and do get in the way of our later growth as people as the habits we form in our youth, in our formative years become a way of life, and deeply ingrained in our psyche. How do I know this? Experience. It can be a lifelong journey to fix the damage done, change habits and learn to trust again. One notion came to me earlier today which is “Take care of today, seize the time, seize the now, and the future will take care of itself”. It takes time, sometimes a very long time to get to that point where you can embrace this thought and heal. Also, Bryce Pinkham has such an amazing voice, his singing has re-inspired me to sing again after a very, very long time. It’s a long story as you can probably guess from my earlier paragraphs.
