For anyone having issues with the ear pro being loose on the arc adaptor, use JB weld plastic bonder 2 part epoxy on the ends of the wire and into the holes with a toothpick. Once it’s cured, I wrapped the wire and plastic piece on the ear pro with black electrical tape to keep dirt and water out. Seems pretty sturdy for the time being I’ll update if it doesn’t work out. Costs like 7 bucks at wal mart.

They make arc rail adapters specifically for Howard leigh ear pro. You just pop off the existing arms and push on the rail adapters. No need to cut any wires.
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 3 жыл бұрын
you would still have to cut apart the leather band to get the wire free. So you are destroying that part either way. I dont see why you would buy the “adapters” when you can slide the metal wire in the existing 3m piece. Seems like spending more on an unnecessary part. Thanks for watching 😀

Solid video, but I would like to point out that you DO NOT HAVE TO DREMEL (not yelling, just drawing attention. lol) the metal wire on the Howard Leights. The plastic tab that the metal wire slips into are clipped onto the ear pro with a simple plastic locking tab. You can use a flathead screwdriver (or simple makeshift prying tool of your choice) and pry up gently behind the black plastic near where it clicks into the OD green tab on the ear pro. It doesn't take a ton of effort, and it pops off and then you can rotate the black plastic piece to remove the metal wire, and then attach the 3M piece and click it right back onto the ear pro. For the audio wire, short of disassembling the actual ear pro, you do need to cut the head strap "leather" as you show in the video, however, and that definitely is the better way to go from what I can see. Great video! I love seeing modifications like this.

Looking to mount my Walker razor slims to my helmet, they utilize the same mounts as the Howard Leights from the looks of them. One thing I couldn’t tell from your video is whether the crimped portion of the mount arm that locks the headset in is faced the same on both. The way you slid the arm into the HL bracket rather than finding that sweet spot to get it in makes it seem that it doesn’t fully lock the headset to the arc rail mount.
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 3 жыл бұрын
if does fit like a key (only one way to insert them), it may not have shown that well in the video. They do not lock in as well as the original HL, but they are still quite secure. Im not sure about the walkers, but ive heard they fit as well. You could force it, if its different, but just be as careful as possible, since its plastic.

@Johnrigsby
@Johnrigsby 3 жыл бұрын
I will add, the boom mic goes into the 3mm jack and wont reach around to your mouth if you have them on such that its in the rear. Maybe there are couplers or extensions that would work to add the length required but they would need to be rigid. I dont know that it matters for the headset to be one way or the other but in this video description he describes putting the wire to the rear, which also means that 3mm jack to the rear. I assume so the wire wraps well around the back of the helmet. That wont work with this boom mic (and I personally found no other that would do) so I suggest routing the wire differently for purposes of this mic and mouting the headset with the 3mm jack in the front.

I would get the peltor sport rangeguards over the howard leights. They fit better on the helmet, because they are smaller and have cutouts that allow them under the helmet edge as well as allow a proper cheek weld on your rifle. They also block a lot of the static/noise when transmitting on a radio. They seal much better to most peoples ears/head too. But they attach more or less the same way. Unfortunately, I havent found any cheap nvgs. Im looking to try out a lower spec (Bravo) PVS-14 soon though and will make a review, when I get them. I have a few newer videos on my current helmet setup if you are interested.

Hey man, two questions for you that I can’t seem to find the answers to. 1. Does the peltor adapter fit Axil Trckrs? 2. How do you have your light mounted around the adapter on your helmet with out it getting in the way?
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 9 ай бұрын
Those Axil look too thick/big to use with a helmet. I could be wrong though. I honestly dont know if the peltor adapters would fit them though. I made my own velcro pic rail helmet attachment point initially. Ive since upgraded to an ECHO arms helmet pic rail section, that velcros on.

Ive heard people say they fit on the peltor arc rail adapter, but they are much bigger and will probably be too low on your face when attached.

Put mine on my helmet. I cant get it to snap down because my head is too wide. But my head is too skinny for the protection to work all the way out. If that makes sense. Any thoughts?
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 Жыл бұрын
Sounds like your helmet might be too small? If you dont want to buy a new helmet, you might have to get a constant tension helmet adapter instead of the snap Peltor one. HHV makes one, but I dont know if they make an ARC rail version or just the M-Lok version.

found it - www.hardheadveterans.com/products/rail-adapter-kit-rak-fits-arc-peltor-3m-and-other-helmet-headsets its $50, but this is the only solution I can think of that would be a (hopefully) easy fix.

I got the TNVC brand and just realized that they don’t actually “pop” away from your head they only swivel. And they were $70. And they always pop out of the actual arc rail when I try and put the helmet on 😡
@poortac5568
@poortac5568 3 жыл бұрын
Unity Tactical makes some that are always tight. They are a spring steel wire, I think. The only issue people have with the 3m Peltor Adaptors is they can pop away from your head when jumping out of planes. You should see if you can return yours, because thats a bad design if they wont stay tight to the head.
@themilkdud8515

@@poortac5568 what I have are the unity mark ones, is what I should have said in my OP. They do stay tight to my head, they don’t however pop away from my head which makes it easy to take helmet on and off if that makes sense. I also used to have an L/XL helmet and recently just got a M/L and it fits much better. And the headphones seem to not pop off of the arc rail so far

I have with a set of Peltor Range guards, but I was afraid of breaking the plastic tabs on the howard leights. The Howard Leights tabs are more difficult to remove than most other ear pro ive tried this on. If you break that plastic, you may as well trash the ear pro.

Everyone should be aware that HHV now uses an M-Loc rail. In order to use the Peltor clips you'll need an adapter to convert them from the ARC mounting base.

pop the black plastic arms off of the headset, then you can remove them from the wire, no cutting, then look where the flat spot is on the wire and make a similar flat spot on the new wire, put the black plastic ends on the new wire and now they won't fall off and you won't get stabbed in the head with the wires when you try and take your helmet off. you are welcome.

I was afraid the plastic would snap, making them unusable on a helmet or on the headband. The plastic feels brittle, so I didnt want to mess with it. That is what I did when I did the same things with Peltor Rangeguards ear pro. They are a lot easier to remove, without risk of snapping the plastic.
