Guys, how's it going?
Back with my wife's Triumph Trident 660, and upon further use of the bike, i have noticed some noises that i have never experienced with any other bike i have owned up to date.
This video is for owners of this model and I'd just like to know if your bikes also have these sounds, just to ensure all is good, or if i should trouble the dealer.
All feedback is very appreciated. Many thanks ;)

I have a 2021 trident 660. I had a problem with the same clutch sound. It was the clutch bell that was loose. Gave it to the workshop at triumph Goa and they fixed it. Please don’t ignore it as it will potentially damage the clutch assembly. Many such complaints have been received in India and it is a manufacturing defect.

I think the ticking noise is off the tappets. Meaning the tappets need some setting, there must be some extra gap between the valves and tappets.. i thinkkk

First noise : absolutely. Second : not aware of. Third : definetly not. Although I thought I heard third noise on my first ride, but since then no weird noises. However, I must mention I always ride with Alpine race ear plugs. I on the other hand face some issues with the BT connect module and when I set trip to automatic it stays 0 while riding. Besides of that, I am enjoying the quickshifter like crazy! Everyone should get one!

I have these same exact noises, full power trident 5000km ridden. The only one that sometimes bothers me is the clutch spring noise when riding in the friction zone. When the bike is nice and hot the noises are less noticable. I like to call it character, might aswell buy a Japanse inline 4 if you want a smoother sounding bike.

Same noises, mine full power version. I started noticing the clutch rattling only after the first 250km. Currently, with 10 Celsius I can hear it even louder at startup and for a few minutes until the engine warms up, then it becomes barely noticeable. The dealer said it's the regular sound of the slipper clutch. My previous bike MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR had a slipper clutch too and made a similar deeper metallic rattling noise, it was so loud that many times I thought it was coming from the valve train... but it fact it was always the slipper clutch... over 24k run without an issue, so I wouldn't be worried. Cheers!

@@John_Neves A lot. I moved on to this great middleweight bike cause I wanted something light, versatile and stress free. What I've instantly loved are the ergonomics (perfect for a short guy) and its overall balance in all departments. Nothing that takes your breath away... but all you need it's definitely there (maybe a little room under the seat...). Also visually, I see some 50's lines in a modern key, cool indeed...(crystal white of course...) I've also added a Dart classic flyscreen (clear) and fit the Easyrack from Hepco & Backer (fits quite well with the bike aesthetic). Happy ride too! :-))

The last noise sounds like a bent valve causing the rocker arm to not be in contact with the valve at some point in is rotation. First noisesounds either electronic, or maybe one of your pumps loosing a Bering…hard to say. The clutch sounds like a slightly bent ear on one of the clutch plates. Thx for sharing. Your the second person talking me out of the triumph. And with that many sounds, take it in to the dealer and don’t get it back till they fix all of it. There is nothing normal about any of it.

Every Trident that I've seen has that fuel pump screeching sound, including mine. It was like that from the start and I didn't really think much about it. My clutch started rattling like that just as the bike hit 4000km, I'm glad i'm not the only one. For the last sound, I find it sometimes clicking like that mostly when I ride a lot and it's hot outside. Not really sure why. So everything here seems to be usual for the Trident as the other comments suggest. I wouldn't be mad though, it's British! Where's the fun when they don't break? Also, do you have any weird sounds coming from the clutch area when you start the bike up on a slope or on an uphill gradient? Good luck!

Hey, I have exactly the same three sounds. I'm glad that I discovered your video. For the first sound, I would say it's normal. The second one in my case is noticeable only when the engine is cold, after some minutes I feel like it disappears. The third sound is what is driving me crazy, in second, third and fourth gear at medium rpms it does that ticking noise. Have you found anything interesting about these noises?
@John_Neves
@John_Neves 5 ай бұрын
Hi There 🖐 Only thing i can say is this is not a Japanese bike...Japanese bikes are better built and for the most part, are very silent compared to this. That means, all sounds are in fact normal for this bike. They have always been there. 1st was the fuel pump, second is the clutch and is gets worse when the bikes heats up around town, and the 3rd is the chain moving.... The bike has been great however. No issues to report after 15K kms.💪 Faulty side stand replaced under warranty. That's it. Its up for sale at the moment because my wife bought a more tour oriented bike. 👍

Mine does not screech for the first noise. I hear the pump like sound but not a screech. I also don’t have the second and third rattle. Yours sounds like there’s low oil or a loose bearing - does not sound right. Or, your microphone is exaggerating the sound due to its sensitivity.

So what have you decided about the noises? Any issues? 2100 miles on mine and it definitely makes the first sound. fans, processors, and pumps I guess. The second one I haven’t noticed but the sound was familiar. Did you adjust the clutch lever or put aftermarket one on? The bike hates any changes to the stock lever pull, seriously, any change to it really screws things up. Or open your oil filler cap look inside while you play with the clutch. Put it on a stand, start it, and See if anything looks problematic in there like loose friction plates banging into gears. because whatever that sound was, its coming from under that cap. In-gear slop in the gearbox is normal (the banging you’llhear when you rotate the rear wheel back and forth when the Engine is off, in gear, and clutch fully let out . The third is more than likely normal, The triumph definitely makes strange noises and has that top end valve rattle sort of sound. When you put the mic down to the motor I may have heard a faint exhaust leak. Torque your headers to spec and see if anything changes. Overall I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s all normal.
