I had a turtle when I was little and when his shell started shedding I started freaking out because he started to shake like it was bothering him. So I began to clean him with an old toothbrush to scrub the shedding away. Ever since then he would shake his butt when he wanted to be cleaned. He was one spoiled turtle!

Shedding its scutes is a means to keep a turtle's shell clean and free of any type of blockage or infection. Furthermore, turtles' shells will peel when it is injured or damaged. If a scute is damaged or lost somehow, turtles' shells have the ability to regenerate. And also i have 2 turtle and 2 tortoise

A turtle shedding is normal they do when they grow

To add a bit more information: turtles shed a few times a year when they're young and small and still growing a lot, but as they get older the rate of shedding slows down quite a bit, to maybe once a year! One thing he mentions is that, if the entire shell seems to be peeling, and you can see nice, healthy shell underneath, then that means your turtle is just shedding and that's okay. However, if you only see one or two spots on the shell that seem to be peeling, and especially if they're smelly, soft, or have a bunch of white stuff on or around them, then that may be a case of shell rot, which is not normal and needs to be treated. Milder cases can be treated at home, but if your turtle is acting sick, isn't eating, etc. and/or if blood or pus are coming from that area, take your turtle in to a vet to have it treated. Shell rot is nasty business!
