Regarding the Start Menu - You didn't show that the apps can be grouped into folders of like functions. Give it a go. This way you can have work/task related folders. Like for IT activity - Put all IT Management tools/apps into one IT Tools folder. To create a Start Menu Folder - Take one app and overlay it on another. It will create a New Folder. You can then name the folder and begin to add other apps as required. Very handy!!! I think.

One tip for Windows 10 that I always use is going to privacy and security in settings, then background apps and I switch off all the background apps. I find it helps a lot with performance.

One thing you can do if you're lazy and don't feel like changing the document type when saving in Notepad is putting the filename and extension in quotation marks. It will then override the default .txt save. So, typing "DoIt.cmd" even with the save as type set to txt will still yield the file being saved as a command batch file. :)

6:30 can also be done by pressing windows key+D, it works to both minimize and maximizes. I remember that in Win 7 you could also hover over the button to glimpse the desktop, it would show the borders of all windows, but you could see the desktop through them. it didnt look like it does this anymore.

Battery life in High Performance directly contributes to the battery expansion issue that all lithium-ion batteries eventually have. restrict usage of the high performance setting and don't leave the device plugged in overnight if you don't have to.

For the power plan thing, i actually use this in group policy because windows 10 and 11 removed much of the group policy object options for controlling the clockspeed, when i've got 36 laptops in a closed cart, i dont want them peeling off the paint and stickers with all of the heat from 288 cores running at 4.2Ghz because the scheduled updates just started installing. It is nice that you can have different behaviors between lid open, and lid closed, i just wish we could do the same with clockspeeds and that RAM were also variable, i'd love to have the CPU clock to 1.2Ghz, and RAM down to 800 from 3200MT/s

One other thing about that DVD (or .ISO of Windows), one can perform an "upgrade install" to repair things & will often fix many issues w/out reinstalling software. That is, as long as the computer will boot to begin with. It's also how I actually do my upgrades, can use the automated installer do so, but this is usually faster. Does require a few updates, as most of these released prior will download in background.

Thanks for sharing the tips. It would be easier if export directly with a batch file too. ---batch-file-start---- reg export HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CloudStore\Store\Cache\DefaultAccount DefaultAccount.reg /y xcopy /s/Y %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\DefaultLayouts.xml DefaultLayouts.xml ---batch-file-ends--- "HKCU" stands for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" - So you have two batch-files to backup and restore the startmenu fast as possible.

I don't understand why I don't have a "Performance and Energy" section under "Power & Sleep". There is no "power mode" slider bar. It's weird...I am fully updated with version 22H2, build 19045.2728. That is the very latest MS has offered me. What gives? BTW, this is an MSI laptop w/ I5 9300H CPU and Nvidia1650 discrete graphics. EDIT: I just remembered I have a performance slider bar when clicking my battery icon on the taskbar. It is set to max. Does this do the job you meant even when plugged in(as it always is)?

cool trick about the startmenu backup, but i wish something else. I usually thick or unthick certain options overall the Settings menu. Can I export those settings too somehow as a cmd file ? For ex i turn off the Notifications, all in the Privacy section, turn the Game mode off, the maps, insider, some things in the Narrator, and lot of other thicks... same for disabling some services (or put them from automatic to manual), is there a method to automate that through a self created cmd file ? I know there are some specific tools around, but none of them make exactly what i want. Is there a good tool that can replicate and remember my mouse clicks, so that I can import those clicks on a fresh installed windows ?

@@CyberCPU high performance plan means your CPU will be running full throttle all the time. I always leave it on balanced. Because it's not good for the CPU to be running at full throttle all the time. I like when my CPU speeds up only when needed better. For example when I'm gaming my CPU will speed up as needed.
@CyberCPU
@CyberCPU Жыл бұрын
@@NeverTrustGovrnmentOrGlobalist your CPU will still moderate it's clock speed even if you use the high performance power plan. Clock speed is based on temperature, load, and reliability of the cores. That's typical handled by the CPU itself. The high performance power plan will keep the CPU in a higher sleep state so it can be more responsive when needed. It will still clock down when the load goes down.

I'm subscribed and listen to view videos now. And mostly their tips and tricks and all here's what you do for certain things you know more focused topic. On this video on the tips and tricks you mentioned the first topic and then you said you personally don't use that option even though you suggested it as a tip. And you did not go into anything of the nature of why you don't use it. If it's tips you're preventing here why are you mentioning tips that you don't use shouldn't shouldn't the tip be not to use it. When it comes to you starting your computer and the apps and things that you were using turning on with them. No the recent ones. But you used turning on when you come back on your computer. You mentioned you don't use them but you shouldn't have mentioned it as a trick to use them cuz obviously that's not something that you personally so how could that be a good tip benefiting somebody else especially when a lot of that stuff was slow down the start time of your computer let alone other things. Let her know of what you're saying that for you for me to know that you know what the hell I'm talking about. They have to know the reasoning and the house in the why's and how comes. If they're taking tips and tricks to be able to run that computer better or something of that nature they obviously don't know and they need to know just telling him a certain tracking and saying I don't personally use it and not telling him anything other why or how or the reasoning behind it leaves them in the dark don't you think. I just thought I'd bring that up. Doesn't help me in any way but maybe it'll help my fellow sapien brothers and sisters out there that may be searching for information and not getting the reasoning behind it to actually know whether or not they're going it's going to benefit them if they do do that trick or tip.

I have really been enjoying your channel. Glad I found it... I especially like you videos on Registry hacks. I've got one I would love to find. I use my laptop at home and at work, and when I am at the office, I use a little tool from Microsoft Garage called MouseWithoutBorders, so I can control the laptop and the office PC with a single mouse. The problem is that everytime I start up the laptop at the office, the program generate a new security code, and I have to manually paste in the code from the PC which never changes. Very tedious. I wish there was a registry tweak to stop the laptop client from generating a new code everytimg and stay on the working one. That's a video I would love to see. Thanks.

Year 2023, and there are still people who say you have to switch to "high performance" energy options. It's not necessary, your computer will go to 100% when needed. It is not a good idea to set the "high performance", your CPU will go to 100% even when it doesn't need it: when you watch videos on youtube, when you are listening to music, when you are writing in word, or just when you are at your desktop. Having it at 100% all the time will generate more heat and shorten the lifetime of the components. It has already been proven that having the "high performance" plan will not give you more FPS in games, nor will you get extra performance by magic. It is best to leave it on "balanced", the computer will go to 100% when it needs it, and will lower clock frequencies when the CPU has a low workload. Please stop telling people to set "high performance", not only is it useless, it's a very bad idea. Stop repeating Windows XP tips (which had a very bad implementation of power management). What's next? Saying you don't need paging file if you have 32 gigs of ram or more?
@TheTeflon490
@TheTeflon490 Жыл бұрын
Exactly this! The high performance profile only changes some options in the profile, but does not magically make your computer run faster. Your can have balanced profile behaving exactly the same as high performance, it is only about options inside.
