Hemophilia is a genetic Coagulation Disorder characterized by abnormally excessive bleeding 🩸 even after a minor scratch. Hemophilia is divided into three subtypes: hemophilia A, hemophilia B, and hemophilia C. Hemophilia A and hemophilia B are X-linked recessive, whereas hemophilia C is autosomal recessive..
Coagulation Tests (PT, aPTT, TT, Fibrinogen, Mixing Studies,..etc).
The coagulation factors are divided into 3 coagulation groups | Fibrinogen group, Prothrombin group, and Contact Group..
Platelet count is one of the lab tests used by a doctor or a hematologist to assess whether your platelet number is normal, low (thrombocytopenia) or high (thrombocytosis).
Bleeding 🩸 time (BT) is another test for platelet function.

Hi.. first thanks for the amazing videos... I have a comment about the treatment of hemophilia.. It is written concentrated fact 7 but you mentioned fac 8. I know fac7 concentrate is also a treatment but just wanted to say you wrote 7 if you meant 8 and if you meant both, please add 8 as well :) One general comment: you can draw a spine or a pelvic bone rather than a long bone for "bone marrow" references :) once again, thanks! love your videos

My guess on the question is that the girl's parents both have a defect on the genetic material. Father is very likely to be hemizigous and the mother homozigous resesive.

answer to your question is : the woman must be the carrier.Due to some causes may be the reason may be drug therapy the dominant gene gets inactivated then the recessive gene express itself and disease manifest clinically

Haha 😂, yeah, different side of the brain...You’re a scientist too :) Regarding the question...I don’t think there’s a difference-genetically- between a deficiency and an Inhibitor...If it's X-linked recessive, then it’s X-linked recessive whether it’s a deficiency or an inhibitor. I think the baby girl’s father is hemophilic and her mom is the carrier . Or her coagulation factor VIII is inhibited by antobody

Hi ,thanks for the mesmerising explanation! I have a qst , why are corticosteroids given to Haemophilic patients? Aren't they supposed to block arachidonic acid pathway by blocking phospholipase A and have antiaggregant effect on platelets therefore they worsen the hemorrhage and do not improve it !? But at the same time cortisol in high doses has a procoagulant effect! This is really confusing and contradictory 😭 can u answer that qst plz and thanks in advance

@@MedicosisPerfectionalis hmmm ,no it's not to treat the pathology (Haemophilia)itself, it's used to treat hemarthrosis for example ,by inhibiting inflammation, the paradoxical thing here is that corticosteroides inhibit platelets aggregation isn't it? So corticosteroides in this case are like a honey mixed with poison lol how can we explain this, sir, in your opinion?

hey Medicosis! @16:35, u have mentioned the treatment to be recombinant factor 8 while writing factor 7.... it's like warfarin hypocrisy( meant to be anticoagulant but worsening DVT in HIT-2) haha....( i understand u meant it to be 8... also factor 7 helps in hemophilia a)

How come bleeding time is normal when hemophilia is characterized by prolonged bleeding? I get it medically but at the same time I don’t. 😂

Great question! Bleeding time is a measure of the function of platelets, not of coagulation factors. Hemophilia is a problem in a coagulation factor.
