" Hello, I am so happy that you're interested in my house. My name is... And I am the owner of this house" (red flag...why state that you're the owner, of COURSE you'd be the owner right? )" I am not working with a property manager, my job transferred me to Texas so I'm looking for someone who will care for my home as if it is their own... To apply for the home please respond with the following information..." Name?...... Address?...... SSN?....... (And so on) Even though its discouraging that I've run in to yet another scammer online I respond with... " I would like to see the home, I live in the area and drove by. When are you available to show the house? I'm available now and would like to apply in person" When they respond with their bullshit this line gets them everytime. " I actually work in real estate, I have made contact with the actual owner and the home is not currently on the market for sale or for rent. I have reason to believe that you are a part of an organized scam and though I wish you well I am forced as a public servant to report your IP address to the local authorities and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. Good luck with everything and I hope you find a way to make an honest living before you end up behind bars." If you want to skip all of the above, when inquiring about a new residence online simply write " I am interested in this property and would like to walk through. When are you available to show it?"
