I think Henning is brilliant. Saw him in South London and bought his DVD - "A Thousand Years Of German Humour". Got his card and hired him for a gig after a software development conference, and he actually came to the conference during the day and participated in some of the sessions. A very nice guy, too.

I too saw this show last night and like Thom2509 I found him very funny. His comedy was very clever in a very sideways kind of way, and you had to see through the stuff that offend some. The stuff about Rhys Jones and the McCann's was what a lot of us think behind closed doors, he just had the balls to say it. Also if you go to events like this don't be surprised when you get offended it ain't TV

He's good! But he needs more time for the audience to understand his humor, it's all quite tongue-in-cheek, plays on words, and clearly half the audience just doesn't get it within the 5 mins. And I liked the timer, that was cute and very 'German', plus all the 'hence why it's funny' historical jokes too. He'd do better with more like 10-15 mins. Pity that these guys have so little time to make an impression, often at the start of the night, when the audience isn't yet 'warmed-up'.
@akhorahil6250
@akhorahil6250 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't blame the audience. This was a cold open. He's not doing a set. He's doing 5-10 minutes of new material with no real order to it. His job is to get people to pay attention to him and get in the mood to laugh, that's all. He's actually not supposed to kill.

haha,. me too. At HFC? Weird choice of warm-up act though - half an hour of jokes about (among other things) Madelaine McCann and Rhy Jones, followed by Lee's act which included a long section about why it's not funny to mock a blind child.
@JimmersThomas
@JimmersThomas 14 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but what's the difference between Henning Wehn making fun of Rhys Jones' death, and Clarkson's style of "homour"? It's a weird conflict where so much of Lee's act revolves around saying it's not cool to attack and bully soft targets and justify it with the "it's just a joke" defence, when that's exactly what a lot of this dude's act was. It's not enough to just say "it's ok, he's one of ours" - it's either ok or it's not.
