I agree a lot of thought went into this rifle when browning put it out more than 20 years ago

@@tbjtbj4786 ... but for years Browning wouldn't listen to customers complaints about the lousy BLR trigger and are now losing that niche market share to Henry ... too bad because the BLR is in all other respects a superb rifle ... not paying a gunsmith $hundreds to fix a trigger that should have been straightened away in the 1st place

@@tbjtbj4786 … glad to hear you lucked out and got one with a good trigger … my latest BLR a 300 win mag ‘81 lightweight long action takedown has a 7 pound trigger pull … absolutely unacceptable for a rifle at that price point … spoils an otherwise fantastic rifle ☹️

Might get a better group if you don't rest the free floating barrel on the rest 🤔

No doubt ! Lol 😂 That’s the first thing that grabbed my attention. Totally defeats the purpose of ‘ free floating ‘ the barrel .

Yea, they dident want to tarnish their pride-o-ownership with showing the groups they got. probibly 3-5" @ 100Y by shooting like that.

I got a Henry .45 long colt and a Henry 45-70 caliber rifles this month and they are both incredibly awesome too!

Savage came out with the 99 lever 308 in the early 50's. 70 years ago. They came out with the 300 Savage cartridge in 1920, 100 years ago in the 99 lever. No bolt coming back at your face, no moving parts or hammer in the weather, loaded chamber indicator, cartridge counter, rotary magazine, all designed 126 years ago in 1895. They had the clip model since early 60's. The 308 was designed by Winchester using the 300 Savage as a model.

I think they were a little bit earlier than that. Manufacturer stated in 1899.

@@tbjtbj4786 yes there was a model made from 1899 0n up to the 1990's. the 99 prior to that was the 1895, same rifle but made by Marlin because Savage didn't have the tooling. I was talking about 308 and the 300 cartridge dates.

@@theguyinmaine oh ok I have over looked the 99 I wanted one in 284. But whats got me trying to go over the 99 stuff. A buddy I hearted a 1899 250 takedown. He thinks the barrel shot out. He has me looking into rechambering or trying to find another takedown barrel for it.

I love mine. Put a 3.5-10 leupold on it and I'm getting a little over .5 MOA with the nosler accubonds 165gr. Seems like all my 308s like those accubonds.

Well … So much for the benefit of the free floated barrel for accuracy when you test fired it. You should never set the barrel on the front shooting block, you should set the wood forend on the block. For accuracy, the barrel shouldn’t be in contact with another surface. Why do you think they free float barrels? 🤦♂️

Great rifles made by Henry. I have a 45/70 but this one is a near duplicate of the BLR which is an excellent rifle also. The Henry being made 100% in America. Great company great rifles.

Never rest the barrel on something while you're shooting, it will kill your accuracy😉

Can you make a video comparing the accuracy and other specs between the Browning BLR and Henry Long Ranger to the best of your abilities? Can't find such videos anywhere. Both guns are so similar in general and price that minutia are all that matter now in terms of which to choose.

... the Henry LR is a superior rifle to the Browning BLR ... much better trigger and more accurate outa the box ... I wish they would make a takedown version
