About SXSW:
Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas. That continues to be the goal today whether it is music, film or interactive technologies.

I don't love everything he's done, but Henry's been my hero for decades now and I don't see that changing in future.

There is just something inherently appealing about Rollins. I remember when Black Flag was popular and he was a complete maniac. The fact that he’s taken so many risks, is so well read, and seems really open minded is hard not to like. He also takes aging in stride, which is refreshing. The fact that he is always targeting young people to be more informed about politics, music, etc. is just honorable.

“... with the dust of Baghdad still in My boots...” Only Henry Rollins would ever be able ( if He chose) to put that in a song and mean it ; and say it without sounding like a braggart ... He is the Man that will Never die ... because He’s been living since the day He was born .

I interviewed this man when I worked at KSDT, and he was very cool. After reading his books, I thought he might be not so hard to talk to. Not so. An attribute to society.

Read the details in this video's description...Renaissance Man. The guy's body of work speaks for itself. Always probing, always questioning. Thanks, Henry, and keep putting in the work!

+Scott Udell I think he will eventually. I'd say in around 8 to 10 years time you'll be hearing his name bandied about quite a bit. I've watched Henry grow since his early days with Black Flag... he's getting better and better and better... and is slowly starting to filter through to the main stream. People call that a sellout, but that's ridiculous... Henry's a model of determination... good will and respectability... he's one for the world... he's the real deal, and people know it. Yeah... at a guess... I'd say we'll be seeing 'President Rollins' around 2025.

47:40 I wish people could pay artists directly [after downloading content they like for free]. Be able to easily locate a site where one can pay [donate to] the artists via payment methods like paypal (but hopefully encourage the use of payment small independent payment sites). I posted this idea online a year ago here in the Silicon Valley area. I'm a terrible drummer, so I understand and appreciate being able to do so. I especially like this idea for artists like black blues musicians from way back who got next to nothing for their work, yet corporations have made and continue to make millions.

Rex Greene I agree. I used to buy albums rather than copy them as a way to honor the artist, but now it is a moral dilemma as I can find it on the internet easily or have no clue how to get to it and pay. Weak for the artists and I have a pang of guilt when interest gives way to interest. I am not alone, but still feel bad.

Years ago I watched a documentary type thing with Henry and a woman I cant recall, and he was being heckled by the hipsters in the place and I just thought "whats wrong with those people, cant just enjoy themselves and let other people live." Well, I never got on it personally but Ive become aware of the hellscape that is twitter and I realized through hearing about it that most people are like those ridiculous hipsters...they just want to rain on other peoples parade...thats where they find purpose....baffling.

Henry Rollins - King of the 'Mic Drop'!!! ..."what's that?, oh, sorry..." - I mean NAME DROP.
@PumpkinQueen1313
@PumpkinQueen1313 4 жыл бұрын
Do you know how he got to the point where the name drops like all these people are just dave-from-down-the-street? One, he kinda stepped into music history at the right time. Two, he's one of very few from that time period in music who are still fricking alive. Three, he's been a writer, performer and jobbing actor for the better part of 40 years and just making sure that you have a paycheck will get you a lot of repeated contact with a variety of people in the creative industries.
