Hello my friends. This video shows you how to store and maximize the extra spaces in the stock. My friend gave me this idea and you can fit between 30 to 40 .22 caliber rounds depending on the fit, loose or tight in the spare spaces.
This is a good way to be able to carry extra ammo for any situation. Hope this idea helps any of you out there.

It would be nice if someone manufactured aftermarket stock for the AR-7 that provided room for two more mags and a cleaning kit.

I just got a Henry AR-7 two days ago. I haven't been to the range yet to try it out, but I really like the construction of it, it's very well thought out in design and function. That's a good idea putting all of those extra rounds in stock, more is better. Very nice and informative video, thank you. HAPPY SHOOTING.

I managed to comfortably store 59 rounds of CCI Mini-Mag. - 24 in three magazines and 35 in the stock. They all fit tightly and didn't fall out. I enlarged some tight holes very slightly with a drill bit and plugged wider ones with foam sponge. None ever fell out.

you could do a altoids can with a sleeve over stock also, on both side and get more ammo with it also.

Plus on the Henry ar7 your receiver will hold a mag as well. So you can have 3 loaded mags stored in the stock. Cool tip on the extra rounds.

ONE BX25 Ruger mag in the gun would hold 25 plus one in the chamber. Same amount as the treee continually jamming AR7 mags...

I once owned the Charter Arms AR7, great concept which is why I bought one but man it was so disappointing having so many FTF no matter which type of ammo used! Guess I'll try one of the Henry AR7 models since I've heard good things about them. Great little camping gun to augment a carry pistol. Thanks for passing the extra stash ammo idea!

It's generally agreed that the problem with the Charter Arms AR-7 was the magazines, not the rifle. The Henry version is thought to be as good if not better, then the original Armalite AR-7. I love mine.

Its an option. Thanks for sharing. I just put spare ammo in a buttstock pouch that will hold about 200 rds. 100 HP/100FMJ. I put them in doubled zip lock bags and then put them in the pouch. Hopefully water and air tight enough. Moisture is the biggest threat to ammo be it open water or humidity. I pack them tight and try to keep from jostling them around. Keeping them completely stationary would be the best. With rimfire ammo I don't want to rough handle it as that may dislodge internal case primer pads that cause misfires. Adding extra weight to the rifle that it was not intended have will cause the rifle sink and no longer float should it fall into water. Thanks again for showing another option.

Bo Jo the gun comes with two 8 round mags and you can get a 3rd 8 round mag and all of that will all store as Henry intended. There are also 15 round mags readily available but they won’t store inside the butt stock.

Awesome vid! Glad you were able to put it to use! You got a lot more in there than I did....but you used some of the looser fitting holes....which is smart....just not as tidy. I have some more secrets I'm going to be sharing soon on this little gun. Love that you have a junky old Charter Arms version to show side by side with. Plus the close the camera or the eye gets the more obvious it is that Henry made MAJOR upgrades to this rifle. I have tons of Charter Arms fanatics (well about 3) giving me a hard time for trashing it....but it is what it is....junk. I personally question if these guys are actually SHOOTING the guns. Anyway good vid....liked that you didn't over edit (I do that sometimes) and was just yourself. Good work! I will try to remember to plug this video in my mods video....if I forget at the least I will put you in the info section as a link to further explore. Catch you later brother!

Been looking at this design for years thinking they should implement some ammo storage in exactly this manner. Also, if the collapsed storage internals could be constructed from a silicone lined material it would kill any rattle and really clean the gun up.

Hell yes brother, trust me they are worth it. If you don't own a Ruger 10/22 take down rifle, you need one to. That is one great rifle and just works great. By the way I have seen this Henry rifle for $243.00 plus fucked up dros fees in Commiefornia so you may find it even cheaper elsewhere. Not bad. Thanks for watching brother.

Thanks for posting this! I have one of these, and it always bothered me that there was only room for two loaded mags, which is not that much ammo. This is a great idea for a compact way of carrying more ammo with the rifle. Even if a few cartridges fall out when you open it up, it still greatly increases your emergency ammo capacity -- great idea! Did you by any chance test the flotation capability when the stock is filled with the additional ammo? It might make the entire unit significantly less buoyant.
@Ghostginthree

Glad you liked my video, I appreciate it. By the way, thanks for reminding me of your question will it still float with all that extra ammo I added and the answer is yes. I did not get to film it but it still floated. Tiny bit of water seeped in but not to much. I did not count the time it floated by after 20 minutes it was still floating. I also forgot to mention in my video that you can also keep a loaded magazine in the magwell while it is in the stock so that gives you 3 loaded mags plus all the extra rounds. Thanks for comment and for watching.

Check your state laws in some states if even one round is touching or in the gun case or bug out bag its classed as a loaded weapon. In Kalifornia the mags must be empty and you can not have any ammo in the stock.

Thanks for the good question. I actually tested it with these extra rounds in it. I did not get a chance to film it but it did float for 20 minutes, after that I got bored and did not continue to count how long it would stay afloat. So i am sure it will continue to float for longer then 20 minutes. Thanks for watching.

I wonder how those big, important, clever smart-ass gun youtubers didn't figure it out the purpose of that .22 honeycomb type space, how could be used. Mind-blowing. Anyway, those 40 plus .22 cartridges don't affect significantly the weight/buoyancy of the whole package.

@Ghostginthree
@Ghostginthree 6 жыл бұрын
They both are great and have their uses. I own both and I feel this Henry can be placed in bug out bags, cars, etc, being so light and functional, backpacking etc. The Ruger 10/22 takedown can be used the same and I feel having 25 round mags is a great advantage to that rifle and just a bit heavier then the Henry. I love them both but that Ruger 10/22 has more accessories and magazine choices for it. Thanks for watching.

It doesn't... The AR7 is a JOKE compared to the Ruger. Buy the Ruger FIRST, you will save the wasting of your money on the AR7. Yes the Ruger costs a little more but it is worth EVERY PENNY ! Trust me, I have owned an AR7 and now have the Ruger.

It BOBS in water if you are lucky... If you are in standing water, it "might" float, if in moving water.... AND it floats....... It is GONE ! Drop the AR7 and it hits bottom or something hard, the cheap assed plastic sight is GONE. Go with the Ruger in stainless steel and synthetic, ALL METAL (with the acception of one of the most reliable 0 round mags ever designed), no rust no warpage. The AR7 can't hold a candle to the Ruger... EVER ! You drop the Ruger in water, it isn't far away.

Wow, sorry to hear about your bad luck with the Henry survival rifle. Did you send it back to Henry for repairs or other place? The Charter Arms rifle previous to the Henry was pure junk. All my friends who have bought this Henry have never had problems. You sadly got bad one from a bad batch. If you don't own one I recommend the Ruger 10/22 take down rifle. That one is awesome and never fails.

GREAT gun for an anchor or mailbox post... NEVER count on this weapon to save your life. I have owned one, even bought a few original manufacturer mags, IT SUCKED ! It has plastic sights, nonstop jamming, doesn't float actually attempts to "BOB". IF you drop it in moving water it is GONE. Go with the Ruger 10/22 Takedown, you will NOT be dissapointed ! Yeah it might not float but goes together faster, comes in a great pouch that will also hold a scope and extra mags/ammo,bis built ROCK SOLID to last forever, adjustable to make up for any wear over the years, no plastic shit sights, ultra reliable (proven) 10 shot rotary mag with 25 round mags available from Ruger. My 10/22 carbine is 49 years old and has never failed me, still exceptionally accurate and has ALL of it's original parts and mag. This P.O.S. AR7 unless put away or used little will never make it 1/3 of that time without screwing up. I bought a 10/22 Takedown and it is FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is SS with a black syn stock, bought a silver scope and mounted it. I have taken it apart (scope/barrel and action) numerous times and reassembled, it hits in the same spot everytime ! You want to buy the AR7 go for it, but you WILL end up with the Ruger 10/22 Takedown if you need a take down type backpack rifle, GUARANTEED ! Experience has been the best instructor. Doesn't matter WHO is foolish enough to put their name in front of the AR7 moniker.... NO !
