@Alexej Svirid I am sorry to say that Lord Jesus Christ was nowhere to be seen when a train with 3000 Jewish children aged 1-4 years came to Sobibor and the guards were not even bothered to killing them so they just dinged them in the hole and buried them alive. And in case anyone of those kids raised the head, they’d just smashed it with the shovel. Hallelujah!!!

I am Jewish and three of my four grandparents emigrated as children from Ukraine in the years before WWI. When they left it was the Austrian province of Galicia. They talked very little about what it was like before emigrating. So I thank you for filling me in on a huge gap in my family history. I watched your whole Jewish History Lab History Lab which filled in a big gap in my knowing of Jewish history. So much thanks. And I believe you said your ancestors are from Galicia, too. If so, it is likely we are cousins.

This was started by St. Vadimir in the 900's. Putin's mother had him baptized secretly. They say he still has his baptism necklace. So being chosen makes it much more serious than land grabbing. Found this info on several sites. One of them is from a Messianic preacher in Ukraine. Another is NTEB Prophecy News. They promote a man who i am not familiar with. Their info seems well documented. Yes, complex with respect to the Catholic bishop, etc. but also complex with respect to Zelensky himself. I am not sure making extensive use of social media is a good reflection on him but I am also put off by the tolerance of neo-nazis in the Ukrainian military and also by a few of his videos from his comedian days where he is dancing in stiletto heels or pretending to play piano with his private parts.

Dr Abramson, thank you for the interesting lecture! President Zelenskyy and PM Shmyhal are both Jewish and are both very robust people and politicians along with one of the chief rabbis in Ukraine Moshe Reuven Azman all remain in Ukraine to serve their people and to fight off the enemy! I have studied the Holocaust in the past couple of years out of personal interest. It was a common theme that US and Israeli (Palestine at the time) Jews used to criticise the European Jews for not resisting, which was not always the case, for example the Byielski brothers. What we see now is the defiance and the determination of the 21st century Central European Jewry (geographically Ukraine is in Central Europe) leading the fierce fight of a nation for its survival. What more Jewish story than this one?! I am not religious, however started praying 🙏🏻 for Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukraine few times a day! Glory be to Ukraine and its heroic people and president. there is no other such popular politic, democratically elected and much loved since day one of him being elected as a president (which I suspect cuts into put ins ego even deeper)💙🇺🇦💛💙💙🙏🏻

I'm enthralled. Your lectures are way more interesting than anything on Netflix. I'm 1/2 jewish on my father's side, but hey, no one is perfect, right? My father's family name is "Schneerson" and we have information placing the family in Surazh, Russia, in 1899 when my grandfather, Iosif Solomonovich Schneerson, was born. My grandfather Iosif was shot during Stalin's purges in Dec 1937 by the NKVD, and my father lived as the orphaned child of an enemy of the state until 1955 when my grandfather was posthumously pardoned ("reabilitated") along with countless others. I was wondering where else I might be able to research my "Schneerson" family tree going back even further in time. I understand the significance of the "Schneerson" family name among those in the Hassidic community because of the life of Menachem Mendel Schneerson, so I've been meaning to research my connection to the Schneersons who lived in Russia/Ukraine around the area of modern Surazh in the Bryansk Oblast. If someone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated, but please bear in mind i cant read Hebrew (without google translate). This is the public information I was able to find about my family www.sakharov-center.ru/asfcd/martirolog/?t=page&id=17285

Schneerson or Schneersohn (there seem to be branches of the family with both spellings) basically means "Shneur's son". The bearers of this surname I am aware of are descendants of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the founder of the Hassidic community named Chabad. Menachem Mendel Schneerson was his descendant and last successor. Of course, in theory, the same surname could have been created independently from another Shneur. But in practice, the name is rare outside the Chabad group, so I would suppose you probably are a descendant of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi.

My grandfather was from Bryansk. He said it was in the White Forest of White Russia-Belarus. In the Soviet - Polish war of 1920 he was impressed into the Russian army and after having escaped and making it back home to Bryansk, the Poles came to town and impressed him into the Polish army from which he also escaped. Being AWOL from two opposing armies he made it to the USA via Hamburg in the summer of 1921, at the age of 17.

@@orwellianyoutube8978 since you said that you are genuinely interested I will reply, but I will try to keep it brief. My original intent is to thank Dr Abramson for his devotion to us his students, and add to the promotion of mutual love and respect, not to RISK detracting from his youtube channel by filling this space with my religious views. To me, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are one. God is so infinitely unified that it is hard for us to understand. To single out one is to go against God’s nature. God has revealed so much about himself to us, but he didn’t reveal it all at once. Over time more and more was revealed to us in his holy word. To think that he has even come close to telling us everything about himself, I think is an overestimation of our understanding of him and our current ability to understand him. I look forward to a time when our relationship with Him will become more perfected than it is now in this mortal sphere. I truly believe that He has sooo much more that he wants to share with us after we become more able. I LOVE the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. If I understand correctly, all Jews are taught to do this as well. In this we can be brothers. God said He is one (echad) in Deuteronomy 6:4. I have been taught that this word can be translated as unity. It is the same word that is used in Genesis 2:24 when husband and wife are told to be one. God is perfect in this as He is in all other ways. I believe the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are so unified as to be spiritually a singularity. I believe that Jesus of Nazareth and all of the Holy prophets have tried to help us come to a better understanding of Almighty God and develop a closer relationship with him. By the way, many have claimed to be followers of Jesus, but have displayed that they were not really by their cruelty to others which includes unimaginable cruelty to Jewish people. As not all who are among the Jews are not true followers of God, not all who claim to be Christian are not actually followers of Jesus. As I said, I LOVE the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob with all my heart. I am under the impression that Jews are taught to do this as well. In this we are brothers (and sisters). I also believe that if we go forward with Faith in the God of Abraham, we will come to a closer relationship with him, and a better understanding of him, and be raised up to be with him. I hope to see you there (which means we are both there). May all the blessings that God has to offer be yours! I want to apologize for taking up so much space when my intent was to be brief. Sorry

Thank you for making this complex subject more understandable. My father grew up in western ukraine and was a survivor of Stalin’s labor camps during the war. I believe he was in Novosibiersk. He told me most, if not all, his fellow laborers did not survive the camp. Despite this he had a great affection for Ukranians and Russians alike - which was difficult for me to understand because of his camp experience. But it was more of a love for the culture than the politics. Later in life he helped the Ukranian diplomats in New York find living quarters after they could no longer stay in the Russian diplomat residence after the Soviet fall. A lot of the history he explained to me was difficult to understand because he said he had Polish documents but lived in Belarus, white Russia, or Ukraine. It never made sense to me until I realized that the borders in that area were constantly shifting from the conflicts through the years. So while he was born in what was Poland at the time, the same territory was Ukraine at the time he spoke to me about it. He wanted me to visit Ukraine and his home town with him after it opened up in 1991 but we were never able to organize it before he passed in 1996. This is the greatest regret of my life. Anyway thank you for helping me with the history. I look forward to viewing the other videos you made on the subject.

Professor, excellent lecture! Thank you. There is something that Westerners consistently miss when they label Zelensky a comedian. Despite being a wonderfully talented actor, he was not simply a comedian. He is a founder of Kvartal 95 Studio which became the largest and most successful Ukrainian media company. He was acting because that was something that he enjoyed, but in reality, he was running a multi-million dollar enterprise that employs hundreds of people. People were surprised at Zelensky's character because they imagined him as a comedian, whereas in Ukraine he is also known as an energetic entrepreneur and an extremely tough and demanding manager.

You have made me understand why my parents grandparents my great-grandparents who emigrated to Argentina and my parents immigrated too or immigrated to the United States from originally Ukraine and Russia but even the Ukrainian Jews that I'm related to fervently held on to their Russian identity. I recently discovered that my mother's grandfather Solomon Morosoff was from Kherson Ukraine. My father's side of the family might be Ukrainian also because we have German or Austrian last name, derived from Wechsler but it's spelled apparently in Ukrainian spelling, Weksler. My entire life I thought we were Russian Jews but we're probably Ukrainian, I guess. Now I think I should probably check the immigration records of Argentina of Jews coming from that part of the world and see what the statistics are at least that might be a good way to go but I have to look at every single maiden name and last name and see if I can find the actual city names to know where they were from and when they were from there because the borders changed. When you explained though that Jewish people had the tendency to try to safeguard themselves by aligning themselves or assigning themselves the identity of the most powerful entity in the region it suddenly made sense why there was this ferocity of denial against Ukrainian identity. I also never understood why Polish Jews and Russian Jews didn't like each other. Now I guess it kind of makes sense because of all the wars and the water changing and it probably had to do more with politics than anything.

@@eleanorwcarmany8922 The background for this video is that Ukrainians killed around a million Jews in the holocaust. I know how viciously from reading transcripts of surveillance recordings of German POWs in a British prison. Even the Einsatzgruppen who commanded them seemed a bit shocked by Ukrainian violence. My point is that despite perhaps believing this incident should occupy a smaller part of the conversation, this is the central issue the Professor addresses and he should have presented it in a more upfront manner. Except for that, I am greatful for his research and for providing us this overview.

There are some Igbos who practice Judaism but most are Catholics to about 85% of the population. Circumcision is also part of the tradition for the male. 2-3 million Igbos died in the civil war of 1967 to 1970 when they tried to carve out their own country, separate from especially, the Islamic north. This culminated in a genocidal war. Today we are thriving in many ways and in diverse places. Not perfect, but we are hopeful. Thanks.
