VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Pamela enjoys traveling, so a smaller space with lower financial overhead serves her lifestyle and need for adventure. This brave girl went from a house with four bedrooms and two baths to a tiny home measuring 399 sqft. Initially, Pamela didn't know what to expect but quickly fell in love with her small space outside Austin, Texas.
There's an upstairs loft that she warmly decorated for a soothing ambiance as this is the place she rests. Downstairs has an open layout with an ample kitchen stocked with full-size appliances and plenty of storage space. Her living room doesn't seem tiny at all, with a large couch, tall windows, and all of the unique design she put into the decor. The energy she's created throughout this home has a welcoming vibe and cozy feeling.

Gosh, this would be a great house for older person. Make the office into a bedroom and use the loft as a guest room and storage. I loved her living room and the way she decorated it. It felt so open and comfortable! Goes to show you can live small life and still have a few must haves, like washer and dryer, little dishwasher and full size refrigerator.

Once you have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, or have a broken leg, having the bedroom and bathroom on the same floor makes all the difference. Also, I think all bathrooms should be handicap accessible so people don't have to do a massive remodel, or move when someone is injured. Just build it in to begin with. A place to sit in the shower for example and sturdy grab bars.

@@recoveringsoul755 LOL you're totally right - when I wake up in the middle of the night needing to pee it's not ideal scaling down the stairs! But that's also part of why I set the little bedroom up downstairs as an office/bed area... in case I needed it!

I thought the same thing! I'd make the guest room/office my bedroom and the loft a guest room. I always find it curious how folks will delegate space for a guest room when it's the room used the least! That said I moved to NYC for college and never went back home to the South. Guest rooms are an extreme luxury in NYC. So, it makes no sense to me.

Yes, I’d definitely add a railing too. Great that she has multiple sleeping areas & could turn her office into a downstairs bedroom. I saw a tiny home recently (maybe was even on this channel) where the couple slept downstairs & used a similar style loft as an office & reading/living area. They removed the legs from the furniture that needed that in the loft & added lots of comfy pillows & a mattress for seating rather than a sofa but designed it with a padded, angled back for comfort. It was awesome. That said, well done.

Totally doable, better than renting just a room, studio, or hotel room. She has everything she needs with her own bedroom loft, full kitchen & bathroom. Privacy. Good amount of storage. In the decor style she chose. And she probably owns it herself - can airbnb while she travels, and/or easily sell it when ready. If she doesn't have kids yet, what more does 1 person or a partnered couple need?

Two "secrets" revealed here for a spacious feeling tiny home: 1) tall ceilings; 2) adequate width (12 feet?). The standard 8-foot width is claustrophobic. If height and width exist in proper proportion a space under 500 sf can feel roomy. Also, there's a limited height bedroom which wouldn't work for most older and/or tall people (back pain etc.). Overall a very good design.

@@yung_arash I think a home of this size would be the perfect alternative to a young single person just starting out in the world. Especially if he/she is working for low wages. The median price for a home in California, as of April 2021 was $458,170.00. A one bedroom apartment on average is $1300.00 to rent. I hear that In Texas their prices are significantly lower. Still I think it would be a good investment for a person just starting out. The freedom and privacy alone would be worth it. It wouldn’t even have to be a permanent solution, just infinitely more affordable for the NOW! P.S. by not spending exorbitant amounts on rent, the money one could save over time could easily position him/her into a buyer’s market in the future.

Along with everyone else, this is one of the most practical layouts I've seen and appeals. Crawling around in a loft is not for me and so I'd probably have to rethink that. They also sell larger manufactured homes and show them on different days of the week. They recently added a series called "Living Tiny With Mr. Tiny" where Mike Timmons (he's the 6'5" sales manager, nicknamed Mr. Tiny haha) visits one of their past clients to showcase the unique ways they've customized the particular tiny home model they purchased from him. Dear Pam, You're a such a lovely soul! Thank you for letting us tour your home and giving us some insight into what it can take to create a dream and then Live It! You share with viewers some of your own challenges regarding downsizing, making big (& tiny!) changes, and learning that choices made along the way (ie: buying furnishings for your transitional small apartment that didn't fit the Tiny Home you bought 4 months later😖) doesn't mean failure. You encourage us to make changes & take risks, and to find a way to benefit others in need along the way, as you did by 'adopting' a family in need; you gave many of your no -longer needed items to a mom & her kids who will remember your kindness & generosity forever, and then pass it along themselves when they can.😇🥰 I appreciate your honesty about how hard it was too vacuum the upstairs carpet, and switching to hard-surface flooring, instead, and your concerns about getting up and down those stairs Safely.🤔 Tiny Living with a large dog could be an entire show of its own! I appreciate the way you share with us how your transition to Tiny opened up many other creative opportunities for you, such as your side-line in design, yoga, etc. Good luck in all of your endeavors. You have what it takes!😇😊😍🤩

The windows are key to the spacious feeling also the high ceiling. Bathroom is the only thing that looks tight to me. Although mine (also a park model) is smaller. You have a talent for decorating and a way of working in full size furniture. Your porches take you living space outside and that's a big deal. I/we (wife and I) could easily live in your creation. Hope for you many happy days/years in your home.

I watch a lot of Tiny Homes/RV etc. I have liked a lot of them, I love yours and that your soul is definitely into every aspect of tiny living, it shows; your home is beautiful and I saved it for the layout. I am glad you "ran away" (as your friends put it) to a wonderful life in a community and away from materialism to happiness. You helped others along your path and that is what is important. I took full guardianship of a grandchild (my little blessing), so my relocating and Tiny Living cannot go so quickly now (several years court that they dragged on to break my bank), I am notable to retire now. I did move to a 528sf Apartment, in order to start the mental & physical downsizing---what a bigger challenge than I thought it would be! I had donated my bedroom set to a single mother, my huge sectional to someone else, dining table & other furniture to Habitat Restore, etc. etc. and I am still working on it after a year! I have approached several friends about building a Kibbutz, they are on-board!
