This was the most beautifully written one IMO a real connection to that car in this movie and the care for the boy

he was still badass though in his prime the rust on him didn't stop him from still having his speed and strength to stop the plane

Only thing is, he's sentient not a robot like K.I.T.T

I'd say in this movie, the engine sounded more powerful than it did in previous and following films. I question if that's really only 40 horse power under the hood, because it sounds A LOT more than that.

@@RailfanDude610 He had a Twin Barrel Dual Over Carburetor in this movie and in Monte Carlo. In The Love Bug he had a Porsche engine, and in both the Love Bug Remake, T.V. Series, and Herbie Rides again, he had the stock 40-Horse Power Engine, except when the jousting tournament. In Fully Loaded he had em all.

I saw this movie 3-4 times in the theatre when i was 8. Loved it.

13 yr old daughter cracked up too. just saw it last night. i couldn't make the connection of calling Herbie "Ocho" 'till she told me 5+3=8 ok senior moment or is it señor LOL

@largol33t1 It wasn't Herbie that prevented them from escaping, they were have difficulty making the plane take off because of the heavy gold especially from what Mr. Shepherd said from 0:05-0:07 and from 1:14-1:16 and even the heavy gold prevented them from staying in the sky seen at 2:46.

The edits looked very weird, but they didn't have CGI to do these effects back then, but my, that is a very unrealistic fall speed for the plane.

I think they used more than one. as a google search for the tail number N2291R Revealed it was an active tail number belonging to the Cessna 210, Plane had been used in Herbie Goes Bananas and "The Incredible Hulk" TV series. S04E03 Free Fall. Sadly, this plane is no longer in existence. On 5 September 1984, In Valencia, California N2291R was seen entering a slow roll maneuver. As the aircraft became inverted, the roll rate decreased, the nose of the acft dropped toward the ground & the plane crashed. No preimpact part failure or malfunction was found. Toxicological checks of the pilot's gastric contents, kidney fluids & bile showed a small amount of alcohol (.03%, .05% & .02%). The amount of alcohol due to putrefaction was not determined. The acft was not certified for aerobatics

@Kei Fox In some ways they deserved it especially first their car got destroyed because of a bull and now the plane was getting destroyed more and more. Regarding repairs, it probably was permanently damaged having first the tail gone, the wings gone, then the propeller gone, and last the wheels were gone. One way to show that it was permanently damaged was Mr. Shepherds disappointed look from what he said at 3:13.

Volkswagens before I think 1975 I'm probably wrong the Volkswagen did not have seat belts due to the law not requiring a seat belt to wear this is made in 1980 but by that time seat belts were basically in every car ps this could be wrong
