Game Meta Knight- Honorable warrior who fights to protect his friends & home but is not the most effective at doing so. Anime Meta Knight- War veteran with a dark past which repeatedly comes back to haunt him but he constantly shows that he has grown as a person since then. Also he spouts exposition a lot. Misty Sparkles Meta Knight- Traumatized war veteran who genuinely hates his life, his boss, and the morons who inhabite the land he is essentially trapped in who copes with the nightmare that is his life by being a sassy bitch who constantly verbally puts down the ten year old karen who just so happens to be best friends with the toddler god slayer who is the only hope for ending the war that claimed the lives of everyone he has ever loved/cared about. Also he spouts exposition a lot.

Apparently the nose-rubbing thing is something that's pretty much relegated to older films/drama/anime, and can either represent fear, pride, or confidence. It's not something that's actually done in Japan (or at least in modern times, the articles I read were pretty vague), so I've got no idea how it got so popular. Another great breakdown! I'm used to Knuckle Joe's dad being referred to as "Jecra" (the name that the Tumblr side of the fandom's given him) so "Fist Jonathan" had me howling, and it's always nice to see a fellow Fighter Ability enjoyer.

Yay, the episode that gave me my first blorbo when I was little! I was so obsessed with Knuckle Joe that I picked up that nose rub thing he does as a stim, lmao. Also, that one image of him and Iron Mam as KO and Carol lines up so perfectly with so many baseless headcanons of mine, I really appreciate that!

I blame this episode for teaching me the nose rub thing. I know other anime do it, but this is the first one I saw and I thought Joe was the coolest thing ever as a baby, so I did it all the time.

Once again, I'm reminded I've only seen this show in latino Spanish and Japanese, it's such a beautiful and funny experience to hear their voices in English. Also i guess in localization makes sense? Knuckle joe has a distinct accent in Japanese. I know you don't read comments anymore misty but i love your Kirby vids so much!!!

In the japanese dub it was 102 episodes.Episode 0,and surprisingly dark matter who was there did nothing but let kirby freeze him.And the speacial 3d episode back in 2009.

It's thanks to both of the Knuckle Joe episodes that I would constantly scream "VULCAN JAB" as a child and pretend to fire energy out of my hands

Easily the best Kirby breakdown yet. Very fast editing, swift references, and good analysis of what makes this episode pretty good. Seriously recommend the Kirby abridged version of this episode, too. They do a great job impersonating the 4kids Knuckle Joe “New Yorker” voice.

I'm 6 days late but glad to know you're continuing this series. I actually started watching the Japanese version of this today with a friend since I found out there's finally a fully completed fan sub project of this anime. I already dabbled a bit in watching the Japanese dub during the mid-2010's but it's a bit funny how this anime's original dub probably contrasts with it's 4Kids dub the most compared to the rest of 4Kids' other work. It's kind of a bold statement considering 4Kids' One Piece exist but I swear Kirby feels especially noticeable just for the usual 4Kids brand of localization applied to a show that generally has plenty of downtime in between action scenes.

What’s interesting about the whole “destroy” thing is that in the episode where Phan Phan appears, there’s a scene where Tiff tells Kirby that Phan Phan is going to kill him. Like maybe I’m not remembering this right. But I swear to god she says “you’re going to get killed” at the part where Kirby isn’t fighting back against Phan Phan.

I f*cking hate how Meta Knight, Tiff, and Tuff, People who are like Kirby's guardians, BARELY DO ANYTHING AS KIRBY IS BEATEN UP BY THIS CHEAP BOOTLEG KNUCKLE JOE. Like, we barely even get any reaction shots from Tiff and Tuff, only when Knuckle Joe is about to give the final punch to Kirby, we see their shock and horror gasps, but it barely expresses anything! Don't we at least have some sort of "Kirby!" from Tiff when he's getting beaten up, since that's basically her only superpower along with calling the Warp Star? Meta Knight could've broken in at any moment, yet he waits until Kirby is at an inch of his life left! At least Chef Kawasaki was sort of justified, since he was even more tied up than Tiff and Tuff were...and he's just a side character, so he doesn't really matter. I mean, Tiff and Tuff wanted to hide Kirby so he wouldn't die, yet when his life is on the line we only see them gasp and that's it!? At least Meta Knight actually did something! Thank you, for making this episode more bearable.

God damn it, why must I be the only capable character in Cappy Town. Like seriously, perhaps I should take out the Halberd and try to take over Dreamland again.
