I consider this a CUV version of the 4Runner. Love that Honda offers a metal skid plate and rear swing away tire carrier. Great job Honda. Only way it could be better is if you were to bring back the individual adjustable arm rests.

This is fantastic. Honda Passport TrailSport is absolutely perfect for many people. I even tell my friends to look at 2024 Pilot Trailsport too. A/T tires, skids, etc a very nice package for outdoor activities. I see many compare with 4Runner and complain 4Runner mpg. Have to remember 4Runner is old tech and does not have fancy cylinder deactivation or anything like that. 4Runners run on all 6 cylinders all the time and also have port injection. And 4Runner is a SUV and Pilot / Passport is a car with a big body. Per my weight video I was surprised to see that my 4Runner Limited is 5060lbs. Probably because 3rd row seats. Love to see comparison Passport Trailsport vs 4Runner TRD Pro (since both come with A/T tires, etc from factory). Even mpg test (4Runner would fail so bad, LoL) or even towing test. I wonder if Passport AWD also rated for 3500lbs like the 2023Pilot with ZF9? Hope TFL don't over tow and over heat the transmission. I bet they would read the towing section in owners manual before test. Looking for a fantastic test and be an eye opener for some what these things can do.

I have a 2021 Passport Elite that I bought new for $46,300. Great deal because it was 0% financing. Love the response that 3.5 gives me. 5.7, 0 to 60 in sport mode. I’m not big on off roading but great in snow. Has every option as the one in this video. Suspension is slight different. Only thing I dislike is that stupid arm rest. Glad they finally changed it.

The Passport you have is Sonic Gray Pearl. Diffused Sky Blue is a bubble gum blue and very very comic blue than Sonic Grey Pearl. Also, they had Sonic Grey last year and in 2022 so it’s not a new color for this year - but you are correct that Diffused Sky Blue is, you just don’t have it lol

I'm a Toyota fanboy, but to me buying a new 4Runner that's been virtually the same since 2010 - old thirsty v6 / ancient 5 speed trans. / talk about ancient interior with plastics that scratch when you barely look at them / yes they will run forever , but paying 50K and the stupid "Toyota" tax is just non sense. If you want to build out a rig like a Jeep for real trails/off roading, the aftermarket support is incredible, but for most people that just commute and hit a state park every now an then, this Passport is a good compromise even with it's oddities (push putton selector:dumb) lol Even the new 2024 Tacoma is going to easily surpass 50K and not even for the Overland edition or TRD Pro - it looks like 50K is the new 30K unfortunately.

We are getting to the point where is one button is out of place i6t gets called out... but "out of place" is compared to the collectives agreement where it belongs. "...more off-roady..." "...competition for the 4Runner..."?!?! General Grabber A/T tires are a good add, but they hardly make up for the lack of approach angle, ground clearance, etc. This seems more of just another cosmetic attempt to look like it is more capable. @1:58 Nor does Mazda or VW make an off-road car either. Many years ago when VW made their first attempt to build a true SUV with the Touareg, it was considered too expensive for a VW, and no one would buy it. Even though it was a worthy off-roader replete with up to 3 lockers, hill-climb assist, skid plates and height adjustable suspension, low range, along with a fully clad luxury interior equivalent to what you'd find in a Range Rover today. You could order it with a V-6/V-6 diesel, V-8, V-10 diesel, or W-12 (yes folks, VW got there first). What's truly ironic, is that the price (inflation notwithstanding) near the same as what Honda is asking for this Passport today. Having learned that lesson, VW tried again with a slightly less off-road -- but still capable version of the Tiguan (VW's best seller world-wide) and that one also fail miserably in the U.S. We North Americans can be a fickled crowd.

Still waiting for Honda to build ANYTHING with an actual 4x4 / Low Range system... I owned a Honda Passport back in 2000 which was a real SUV, these have become total NPC appliances, about as exciting as a new refrigerator. It's sad to say, but Honda doesnt even build a single vehicle I want or would actually consider buying... not a single one. Its not like these crossovers get amazing gas mileage or do anything special, if I wanted a family hauler that can do forest roads/handle snow I would immediately go for a Highlander Hybrid which would blow this Passport away in fuel economy, and if I want a Japanese offroader, ill stick with my outdated 4Runner on 35s with metal bumpers & sliders... the aftermarket offroad support for these Hondas is kind of a joke to be perfectly honest. < someone with a 4Runner, ETransit van & Bolt EV

Honda knows their customers won’t use it. Plus why take away the safety and usability of true AWD for a part time 4 wheel drive that’s not meant to drive over 40? Most 4 runner and jeep owners drive them on the roads. Plus full frame drive sloppy. Honda won’t do that to appease 1 percent of buyers.
@ryanb8736
@ryanb8736 8 ай бұрын
99.9 percent of these buyers want a safe and comfortable SUV for bad weather driving. AWD has huge advantages over 4wD for daily driving. Transfer cases break, make noise, not to be used for high speed or long driving. So where is the benefit in it for daily drivers? None! Most 4Runner owners never go off road. Most complain they can’t use 4 wheel on highway. Hence why most trade them in for a AWD vehicle.

@ryanb8736
@ryanb8736 8 ай бұрын
Low range is for 4 wheel drive and not for AWD. You need to change the transmission and add in a transfer case. Then you will lose capability of AWD and the whole purpose of AWD. 4 wheel drive is great for off roading, but should not be used when driving over 40mph or long trips. So you lose the AWD capability and safety in severe weather by changing it out to part time 4WD. 99 percent of these buyers want a vehicle to drive in bad weather, so they want a no fuss AWD system for the added safety and traction. Thats why some 4Runner owners who never go off-roading, end up buying a full time AWD suv. 4Runners are meant to drive in rear drive only. 4 wheel is used for off-roading and going slow on bad weather roads for very short periods, or you will blow up your transfer case. So I don’t see Honda ruining a great thing that 99 percent of their users need.

Honda needs to get their prices in check. I know they make great vehicles but when you're approaching $50K there's really no incentive to get something like this over say the 4 Runner. It's the same story with the Ridgeline. They made the trailsport version but that truck is really not an off road truck. It's great for hauling bulky things on road and has good ride quality but when the Tacoma and Ridgeline are almost identical in price why choose the less capable one?

Honda is overpriced,,,. Utilitarian interiors equal cheap to produce. The motor is getting very long in the tooth and for those that want to own them for hundreds of thousands of miles like the 4Runner, there’s that d*mn timing belt as part of the routine maintenance. The timing belt is never discussed, but for the first while people sure b*tched about the belt in the Chevy 3.0 litre diesel!!! That requires replacement about 1/2 as often ad the Honda 3.5 does,,,,. Honda does produce very comfortable seats, I like the looks of this vehicle but I wouldn’t consider it for off-road use. I would buy a 4Runner if I needed this. My wife bought a Subaru Crosstrek Limited, 2024, and it has 8.5” of clearance vs the Honda 8.1”. I suspect the Honda will be the better off-road vehicle of the two, even if we put all terrain tires on the Crosstrek (we put all weathers on it though, we live in Alberta, Canada). Definitely a better approach angle on the Honda, departure is comparable. They did improve the transmission a lot, if you get the 2.5 litre, and it’s much better and with a 7.8 second 0-60 time, it’s quick. It’s not meant to be a race car. I suspect the Passport is at least 2 seconds quicker 0-60 though. Very different vehicles and about $20,000 Canadian apart in price!! My wife likes the Subaru and it’s solely her crossover, so it works for us! I drive several classic trucks and. Ford Ranger currently.
