This is how much a Rolls-Royce costs to own 👇
When we first were looking to purchase a used Rolls-Royce, figures of ownership costs were all over the place. Some people gave estimates in the thousands each month, and some people gave estimates of a few hundred dollars per month. So we figured we’d clear the air and tell you exactly how much our used 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost costs to own each month.
Keep in mind, we paid for our used Rolls-Royce Ghost in cash rather than financing. Personally, we prefer to pay cash for toys, as we don’t like financing anything that doesn’t make us money. Because of that, we only finance properties and appreciating assets - never toys. Other people may disagree and/or do it a different way, so those figures may vary.
Here, however, are our true costs of ownership each month - excluding opportunity costs. This is something we will discuss in a future video where we break down the real cost of ownership when you take into considering opportunity cost from not financing it through a bank.
Our real monthly payments on our Rolls-Royce Ghost are as follows:

⛽️ Fuel: $120/mo
👨‍🔧 Service Plan: $250/mo

Let’s break down some of those above costs of Rolls-Royce Ownership. First thing’s first, let’s talk about insurance on a Rolls-Royce Ghost for two 25 year olds. It’s a lot. It’s nearly double the insurance of our Aston Martin each month. In fact, when we first heard the insurance payment, we had to sit down. $300/month is a car payment on an average used car, so to be paying that out on just insurance for one car was a little shocking. It’s a lot. It’s good coverage, but it’s a lot of money each month.
Moving on from there, let’s talk about gas price for a used Rolls-Royce Ghost. It’s hefty as well. Our used Rolls-Royce Ghost isn’t driven every day - it’s a weekend toy. But the Rolls-Royce Ghost has a 6.6l TT V12, which sucks the gas straight through. We average about 11 MPG in our used Rolls-Royce.
The service plan and warranty on our used Rolls-Royce (Rolls-Royce Provenance Program) came free for the first year; however, to add an addition year of the warranty and service plan, it was $6,000 up-front. We averaged that out over the 24 months we will own the car, which comes out to $250/mo average. This one is a little strange because it was paid up-front, but it is literally our only maintenance or repair cost on our Rolls-Royce Ghost aside from the tires. With Rolls-Royce Provenance, we are literally only responsible for tires and fuel. Every other piece on the used Rolls-Royce is covered by the Provenance warranty.
So what do you think? Is that a bad price to pay for such a luxurious automobile? We surely don’t believe it’s too bad.
