Sometimes we make everything more complicated, especially makeup. But it doesn't have to be complicated and I'll show you how and why in this tutorial. On my left eye, I'm creating this beautiful bronzy gold smokey eye in 10 minutes using traditional methods and on my right eye, I'm creating the same look in 2 minutes using my method of swipe and dab. I hope you enjoy this tutorial. Lots of love, Smitha

Most beauty gurus back in the day always call sponge tip applicators useless. But they're so wrong, because, like you said, sponge tips pack a lot of color, especially with shimmers! Also, sponge tips might actually save product because you don't need to tap off the excess from the brush! Thank you so much Smitha for this technique! 😍🥰

I remember having my makeup done by a professional at a salon like 15 years ago and she said "give me a sponge brush and I can't help you with your makeup". In my head I immediately thought "then you are not a good makeup artist!". Sponge brushes are super good with shimmery shades like you said.

@@benguercho1363 it works for all colors! Especially those with specs of glitter in them, you will actually get the glitter on your lid if you use sponge applicators so the eyeshadow will look just like it does in the pan. If you use a brush, the glitter will just fall off or get brushed away when you apply it. If you want precision you can just use the pointy tip, or a brush depending on how precise you want it to be. You can do cut creases in any color only using a sponge tip as an example.

I love the sponge tip applicators! I’ve been using them since high school. Some may say it’s an old school method but I think it works way better than brushes. Buts that’s just my opinion. Ty so much for sharing this video. Such a beautiful look for a beautiful lady 🌹

When I had started to make my makeup there is aplicators in the paletes and I didn't know that there is other way to make it. I became a pro. I blend with the aplicator too...

The sponge applicator is way better for blending, I think. No time for blending for hours with brushes!

Thank you dear. 🙏🏼 I do make up on myself for past 20 years or more. But I just got certified as a make up artist last month and they did teach me a difficult ways which I found useless, but I follow cuz I want to do everything right. Now after watching this video I got that I don’t have too. I just have to do what I know a best way to do. You gave me more confidence. Thanks a lot 👍

Thank you for the two minute method because I don’t have 10-20 minutes to spend on my workday makeup nor do o want that much eyeshadow for work. I like the neutral colors too and I think that less is definitely more especially when it doesn’t look like you put much effort into it.

Wow that was so simple!! I normally just use my fingers. It’s weird and no one does it, but it always looks good! For blending, I just use a small fluffy eye brush and blend it out. Sometimes if I’m out, I just use my fingers to apply and blend. You can’t tell at all and it looks really good.

You know, I used to use sponge tip applicators for eyeshadow as a teenager before I discovered KZfaq. After watching a million makeup tutorials online with all these beauty gurus using 100 different brushes for everything I thought I was doing makeup wrong...and now I find this🙃thank you, its comforting knowing my old ways weren't "wrong" lmao

I feel guilty at times for not using the tools everyone else does. I use sponges and mostly my fingers, even on my eyes. Thanks for shining a light on my foolishness and restoring confidence in my own ways. Some fads and trends can be gimmicky or ridiculous, and the older I get the more I buy into it. I used to see through it. Maybe it's social medias? Thank you again. Also I love your three color swipe trick. You've schooled us all and saved us.

I like where you put an arrow or circle on which eyeshadow color you are using. I have not seen this before; I have noticed in other videos people just point to what color they're using. This is WAY cooler!

This is such a beautiful eye look and I really appreciate the step by step comparison. It did look like the 2 minute swipe & dab method created much more fallout on the cheeks, though. Maybe it’s just this particular shadow? Probably still worth it in the end to have a little bit more cleanup but still save time overall.

I think this has been my problem why I don't wear eye shadows or very much makeup in general: I just don't have the time or attention span to spend on it. But 10 minutes vs 2 minutes? What's genius about this technique is you can apply the colors "roughly" to both eyes simultaneously before blending. For someone like me, this helps immensely with symmetry! Brilliant!
