Olive Garden may not have the best pasta in the world, but they sure do offer a lot of it. In fact, during one promotional period every year, you can order the Never Ending Pasta Bowl, which lets you have unlimited servings of pasta for just $10.99. If you’re really dedicated to it, you can chalk up $100 for a Never Ending Pasta Pass, which lets you dine indefinitely during that period. It may seem like a promotion guaranteed to lose money, but it actually rescued the chain in the ‘90s. Let’s take a look at the truth about Olive Garden’s Never Ending Pasta Bowl.

I had 6 bowls the last time they had this here in Canada (Langley BC) in 2019. I added on unlimited meat and you could choose 1 type of meat per bowl. I ordered a refill as soon as I got each bowl so the timing was perfect. I liked that the refills were smaller so I could try more pasta, sauce and meat types. I still ate 4 breadsticks and a family size salad, lol. The waitress brought out the manager to congratulate me on eating the most pasta that week. I tipped very generously.

You had to keep asking, and getting 5 shrimp. And they were small, breaded shrimp to begin with, so, they go down quickly. And they don’t rush them out to you either. Lol yeah, funny how all you need to be a 'chef' at OG is experience in light food prep and reheating! Sauces and soups are about the closest thing to "from scratch" there.
@alysellscars
@alysellscars Жыл бұрын
As someone else that worked there for years, that is entirely untrue. The majority of food is cooked on grill, skillet, or oven... The only food put in the microwave was the broccoli to steam it, the kids macaroni and cheese, and one appetizer they no longer serve that was put in for 30 seconds and then put in the oven. Everything else is made from scratch there (except the pasta, it is dry) then it is cooked halfway, stored in the refrigerator, and then finished being boiled and then served.
@alysellscars
@alysellscars Жыл бұрын
@@zachary_attackery I also worked at Cracker Barrel and that is also not true, everything was made from scratch, including the biscuits and cornbread. Only thing microwaved was the dessert. However, my CB was gross, and their ethics were poor as well, I wouldn’t recommend anyone eating there.

They're likely better than what passes for Italian food in a lot of localities here in the US. When I was in school in Ogden, UT, finding something as simple as good pizza was near impossible. I live in NYC, so I really have no reason to eat at Olive Garden either. I have better more authentic choices for Italian. So many choices I can choose between restaurants that specialize in different regions of Italy. My best friend is Sicilian. He's taken me to some incredible place for Sicilian food.

Both restaurants had an all you can eat buffet at a low price. All you can eat, near broke college student's favorite four words. Ogden was okay city circa 1986-7. Olive Garden may be "Italian Inspired" but it is not close to Italian food cooked by Italians (just like Taco Bell would not be considered authentic Mexican food or Panda Express would not be considered authentic Chinese food😊). Do I think Olive Garden is horrible, no, because I know what I will be getting and I set my expectations low. Do I eat there often - well, I last ate at an Olive Garden two years ago when it was close to the RV Park where I was camping and I did not feel like cooking that day. I do not hate on Olive Garden and I have never become ill after eating there. I think they used to "cook fresh" when the chain first opened but I do not think that is the current way they prepare their food now.

Popular diets like keto and gluten free means an aversion to pasta, bread and carbs...along with mediocre food (except their salad) is killing OG.

I'm ignoring your carb warnings, and going to stuff my face as a first time diner. See y'all in the hospital.

Learn to make your own fresh pasta and sauces. It's dirt cheap and you'll never eat crappy pasta at a restaurant again.

I did it once. They brought my first plate then brought the check about 2 minutes later and then never came back to ask if I wanted more.

Last time I went to olive garden, my ex wife and I got locked out of our car after realizing my wallet, and her keys were in it. Classic dining experience. Kinda bummed we spent 100$ on a locksmith and didn't end up eating. Used to love going there as a kid

I agree with you but the funny part is that my in laws are about as traditional Italian as you can get, from Ischia, and their favorite restaurant is Olive Garden lol. Nobody in my family can understand this.

I pretty much live off of pasta, but I rarely go to olive garden. I dont think its terrible, but its not super amazing either. And definitely not italian.
