A day after PM Modi made a controversial remark on Muslims, the Election Commission has said that it ‘declines to comment’ on Modi’s statement. The statement which Modi had made was that ‘country’s property will be distributed to Muslims by the Congress party. He had cited former PM Manmohan Singh’s speech to form his speech. Modi talked about Congress’s manifesto where he alleged that the manifesto says that Congress will calculate the gold with women, then distribute it, to which Manmohan Singh had said that ‘Muslims have the first right on the country's assets. Plus, Modi spoke, “It will be distributed among those who have more children. It will be distributed to the infiltrators”. PM Modi used terms like “infiltrators” and “those who have more children”.ECI has declined to comment on PM Modi’s statement. This statement comes from a spokesperson of ECI during a press conference. The Congress party, however, has moved the Election Commission of India against Modi’s statement. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has further seeked PM Modi’s appointment. Kharge wants to educate PM Modi on Congress’ manifesto. On one side ECI declines to comment on Modi’s remark on Muslims, and on the other hand ECI has sent notice to INDIA alliance leader Uddhav Thackery of Shiv Sena UBT. ECI has asked Uddhav to drop certain words from the campaign, like ‘Hindu’ and ‘Jai Bhawani’. However, Uddhav Thackeray has refused to do so, and has said that first Modi should be sent a notice.
